Her voice steady: “Once I fake my death, and Dante comes to mourn me, I can strip him of his pack title and his wealth. After all, he likes to play the role of the heartbroken lover. And after I fake my death, Natalia will stop letting Rowan come after me. It’s been a hassle having her keep tabs on me.”
Her eyes gleamed with cold calculation. “And best of all, when Dante comes to Crisantia, Natalia–who only ever wanted his wealth and status–gets nothing.”
A triple victory.
However, to pull off this fake death, she would need an ally..
After careful consideration, she sought Caden’s help.
“So you want me to devise a method where someone appears to kill you… without actually harming you?” Caden’s brow arched slightly.
Evelyn nodded, not hiding anything from him, and explained everything that had happened over the past couple of
months.
As she spoke about the past, there was no trace of extra emotion in her voice, as if she were talking about someone else’s
story.
“I want to sever all ties with these people and things for good, but I don’t want to let them off so easily. Faking my death is
the most beneficial option for me.”
Caden looked at his mate, a flicker of concern in his eyes.
Evelyn might not even realize it, but there was a subtle fragility about her now, something that made her seem more
vulnerable, something that made people want to protect her.
He averted his gaze and seriously began to analyze the situation for her:
“Logically, drowning would be the easiest way to fake a death, but after what happened recently, you probably won’t be
heading to the beach anytime soon. Falling off a cliff is too risky. I suggest a car accident instead.”
“A car accident?” Evelyn frowned, considering it for a moment before agreeing with Caden’s suggestion.
She had been moving between three main locations recently and had been extra cautious. Rowan didn’t have many
opportunities to make a move against her, but tampering with her car was the simplest method.
However…
“How do we get him to tamper with my car?”
Caden grinned.
“Leave that to me.”
Evelyn thanks Caden with gratitude.
The next afternoon, Rowan still couldn’t make a move against Evelyn.

He drove straight back to his apartment, parked, and decided to grab a bite at a nearby diner.
After ordering his meal, two men wearing blue hats entered the restaurant and made their way toward his table.
The two men looked similar, like brothers, both tall and muscular with large tattoos on their wrists and necks.
From a distance and up close, they definitely didn’t look like good guys.
Rowan caught a whiff of their scent and noticed they were trying to mask it, but his sensitive nose still caught the faintest
trace–they were rouges.
They sat down at a table next to his, casually tossing a bag containing a wrench onto the chair beside them, speaking in
hushed tones.
“This job will keep us fed for half a year,” said the older man, Killian.
He cracked open a beer and chugged it down.
The younger man, Theo, nearly twenty–eight years old, rolled up his sleeves and clinked his beer bottle with Killian’s before
speaking in a relaxed manner:
“The car’s been tampered with, and it’s raining today. As soon as that guy drives, he’s bound to get into an accident.”
After a pause, he shook his head.
“Never trust a stepfather. Plays nice till the kid turns eighteen and gets a license… then bam!”
Rowan’s sharp blue eyes narrowed as he came up with a plan.
His curiosity itched, but he couldn’t find a way to speak with them.
Killian squinted, then dropped another bombshell:
“If it weren’t for these people, where would we be making money?”
Theo nodded, sneering, “The more of these bastards exist, the better for us. A few more jobs like this and we can retire.”
At that moment, Rowan could no longer sit still.
He stood up and walked over to their table, smiling to initiate a conversation.
“Hey bro, lunch is on me. I’ve got something to ask you.”
Killian’s eyes narrowed with suspicion, his tone turning cold: “Do we know each other?”
Rowan shook his head, flashing a sheepish grin.
“No, but they say chance encounters are fate. You’re already taking one job – what’s one more? I’ll make it worth your while.”
Then Rowan’s smile widened.
“I’ll double what the last guy paid you.”
Killian and Theo exchanged glances. Killian frowned, then after a few seconds, he gritted his teeth.
“Fine, deal! Money’s money!”

Rowan breathed a sigh of relief. He clinked beer bottles with the men and sat down with them for another half hour, before finally pulling out a picture of Evelyn and showing it to them.
Satisfied, he left.
As soon as Rowan walked out, Killian left the restaurant and got into his car.
He immediately called Caden, reporting
“Alpha, Rowan took the bait.”
