chapter222
But she didn’t utter a single complaint.
Only when the car finally stopped did Bianca leisurely smooth her hair and clothes.
Blair watched her through the rearview mirror. “Well?
Smell better now?”
Bianca finished adjusting herself. She pushed the door open and stood beside the car, waiting for Blair to step out.
Once he did, she met his eyes. “Blair, you’re marinated through. No amount of airing or washing will change that scent.”
With that, Bianca turned and walked toward the hospital entrance.
Blair raised an amused brow at her words. He caught up in two strides.
Grabbing her hand as he reached her, Bianca tried to tear away but couldn’t. She halted, glaring. “Blair, what now?”
Smiling, Blair leaned close and whispered, “Grandpa’s hospitalized. Dozens visit daily–his eyes and ears are everywhere. If we don’t act close enough and he notices, he’ll be furious.”
Hearing this, Bianca stopped resisting.
Forget it, just bear with it for now. Things will get better once this period passes.

Bianca finally broke free from Blair’s grip in the elevator. “No need to keep up appearances here,” she said.
Blair stood rigidly straight, tilting his head toward her. “Our turn for night duty starts tonight.”
Bianca froze. “You never mentioned that.”
“Just remembered,” Blair replied calmly. “But don’t worry, I’ll have Corey bring your toiletries over.”
Before Bianca could protest, the elevator doors slid open. The old man stood waiting in his hospital gown, leaning on his walking stick.
His stern expression melted into a smile at the sight of Bianca and – Blair.
“You’re here?” he asked, undisguised delight coloring his voice.
As Blair stepped out, he reached back and grasped Bianca’s hand.
Facing the old man, Bianca didn’t resist. Blair led her out, deepening the old man’s smile.
Originally heading downstairs for a stroll, the old man returned to his room with them.
Visitors had left, but the room overflowed with fruit baskets, floral arrangements, and gift boxes…
The old man settled onto his bed, gesturing toward the sofa. “Sit, both of you.”
Once seated, he frowned. “Where’s Winnie?
Why didn’t you bring her?”

Knowing Blair and Bianca were on duty, he’d expected his great- granddaughter.
“Winnie has school tomorrow,” Blair explained. “I left her at Harmony Residence with Katelyn. Don’t worry, Grandpa.”
The old man’s brows knitted tighter. “That won’t do!
Katelyn’s just the housekeeper. She’s no substitute for parents!
Fine for today, but tomorrow I’ll visit Harmony Residence to see her.”
Bianca remained silent throughout.
Hearing this, she instinctively glanced at Blair, curious about his reaction.
Predictably, panic flashed across his face. His voice turned hoarse: “If you miss Winnie that much, I’ll bring her tomorrow. But you’re still recovering, Grandpa. Leaving the hospital isn’t advisable yet.”
The old man might miss the subtext, but Bianca caught it clearly.
While concerned about his grandfather’s health, Blair feared exposure of his secret affair.
Dissatisfied, the old man demanded sharply: “What?
Am I barred from Harmony Residence?”
Blair feigned composure. “We’ll go after you’re discharged.”
“Are you sick of me already?” The old man’s face hardened.
“Not at all,” Blair insisted. “I’m only worried about you.”

Dismissing Blair, the old man turned to Bianca, his voice softening: “Bianca?
Do you also not want me to visit?”
When addressed unexpectedly, Bianca showed no alarm. Her calm gaze met his steadily.
Just as she prepared to answer, she felt a tug on her sleeve.
She knew it was Blair Avery pulling at her, wanting her to stand with him.
The words on her tongue were carefully worded before Bianca Watts finally said, “Grandpa, your health comes first. You can visit Harmony Residence whenever you wish.”
