chapter235
Bianca met his gaze. “I don’t like him anymore.”
It was true–her feelings for Blair had long faded.
But staying completely unaffected? Impossible.
How could anyone remain indifferent after what just happened?
The man she’d loved for eight years couldn’t care less about her.
Who wouldn’t be in pain?
At her firm answer, Elvin’s brow furrowed deeper. He stared as if seeing through her. “Then why were you crying just now?”
He couldn’t help himself. Even knowing she loved Blair, he still foolishly wanted to protect her.
Elvin felt poisoned by Bianca Watts.
If he couldn’t have her in this lifetime, he’d surely die.
A night breeze swept across the lawn where only the two of them stood.
Bianca met Elvin’s demanding gaze, her voice suddenly hoarse as she answered, “I just feel sorry for myself.”
Years wasted before truly seeing a man for who he was.
Early winter’s chill seeped into Bianca’s evening gown, leaving her

body numb with cold.
Her words pierced Elvin’s heart like a knife.
He stepped forward, draping his still–warm coat over her shoulders before pulling her into his embrace.
His arms locked around her fiercely, as if he could crush her into his very bones. Pressing his face against her neck, he pleaded in a near- whisper, “Could you please stop hurting over him?”
The coat’s warmth enveloped Bianca instantly.
His body radiated heat; his jacket held his comforting scent.
She didn’t pull away. Instead, she leaned into him, craving more.
Never in her life–outside family–had she known such warmth.
Suddenly, retreating felt unbearable.
Feeling her shift closer, Elvin instinctively tightened his hold.
Bianca tilted her face up within his arms. “Alright,” she murmured.
Electricity jolted through Elvin at her agreement. A tremor shook him before he gently pushed her back, staring in disbelief. “Truly? You promise?”
Bianca nodded. “Yes. I promise.”
Her makeup tonight was subtle, highlighting delicate features. Her lashes fluttered, each blink tugging at Elvin’s resolve.
The black evening gown clung to her pale skin, breathtaking under moonlight.

Seeing her like this beneath the night sky shattered Elvin’s composure.
He knew she reinained married. Knew he shouldn’t cross this line. Yet
his body betrayed his thoughts.
His hand slid to her waist as he slowly bent toward her lips.
He only wanted a kiss.
Just one kiss.
Bianca sensed his intention but didn’t retreat. She closed her eyes.
A thought surfaced: Blair had already been with Diane. What harm could come from this?
She was an adult with needs. If Blair failed her, why not explore this with Elvin?
Even if Elvin was reckless–what did a fleeting moment matter?
His lips descended, yet at the last second, restraint prevailed. His kiss grazed only the corner of her mouth.
Touching her lips would unleash his hunger
He couldn’t allow that.
Bianca felt him straighten after the brief contact.
Her eyes flew open, questioning. “Why stop?”
Elvin turned away, ears flushed crimson with suppressed desire. When he spoke, his voice rasped like swallowing hot sand. “I can’t be selfish. I must respect you.”

Bianca Watts felt waves of confusion wash over her at his words. She asked him, “Why are you so good to me?”
Elvin looked up at the sky for a few seconds before lowering his gaze. Staring intently at Bianca, he said earnestly, “Promise to let me be your lover, and I’ll tell you why.”
Hearing this, Bianca frowned and scoffed, “Elvin, you haven’t had much to drink. Why are you talking nonsense?”
She hadn’t taken any of those words he’d said in his bedroom seriously last time.
