Chapter 25
At that moment, Virgil and Blair were standing under the shadow of a tree near the rubber track.
They were facing the direction Bianca and Dwain were coming from.
Seeing the two of them walking together, Virgil couldn’t help but comment, “Mr. Avery, don’t you think Dr. Watts and Mr. Larsen make a great couple?”
Blair glanced over, his expression unreadable. He didn’t respond Virgil’s remark.

In his mind, Bianca had always been a bit tactless. Despite his clear rejection, she’d continued asking if he wanted to go home with her.
That was why he’d stopped answering her calls.
After Winnie was born, Bianca had looked disheveled, with milk stains on her clothes and a pale, tired face. She hadn’t looked anything like the vibrant woman she once was.
Those years, he hadn’t been close to her.
But even though they hadn’t been intimate, she was still his wife.
Yet she seemed to have forgotten that, growing so close to other men.
Blair didn’t speak, and Virgil, thinking he wasn’t interested, couldn’t help but praise Bianca. “Dr. Watts is such a lovely woman. I wonder who’s lucky enough to marry her.”
Lucky?

Was he?
Blair didn’t think so, nor did he care.
After all, everything he had was hardly connected to Bianca.

Meanwhile, Bianca and Dwain had already passed the teaching building and were nearing their destination.
At that moment, Virgil spoke up again, “Mr. Avery, since you and Mr. Atkinson have both had a
the city tonight. Why don’t you I’m guessing it’s too late to head back to
stay at my place for the night?”
The small town didn’t have many good hotels, and someone like Blair, accustomed to luxury, likely wouldn’t tolerate staying somewhere uncomfortable.
Blair’s gaze turned distant, as he was lost in thought.
By the time Bianca reached her room and closed the door, Virgil and Blair had already arrived.
Virgil’s room was right next door to Bianca’s.
As soon as she opened her door, she heard Blair say, “Mr. Kent, there’s no need to trouble yourself. I have somewhere to go.”
Confused, Virgil watched as Blair walked straight toward Bianca’s door and knocked.
When Bianca opened the door and saw it was him, she furrowed her brow and asked, “Is there something you need?”
Her tone was cool, completely different from the admiration and warmth she once showed him.
Blair didn’t wait for her permission; he simply stepped into the room.

Before Virgil could react, Blair had already closed the door behind him.
The room was simple–just a bed, a desk, a small sofa, and a bathroom.
The bed was made with a light green floral set, giving the room a fresh, calming feel.
Bianca stood by the door, looking at Blair, who had entered uninvited. “What do you want?”
Her tone was cold, but there was no trace of anger.

Blair sat down on the couch, his high–end suit standing out awkwardly in the modest room.
He looked up at Bianca and said, “I have nowhere else to go. I just need a place to stay for the night.‘

If given a choice, he’d rather sleep in the same place Bianca had slept than in a shabby guesthouse with poor cleanliness or a bed someone else had already used.

When Bianca caught the lingering scent of alcohol, she had a good idea of what was going on.
She didn’t try to push him away like an antagonist; instead, she simply said, “Then I’ll sleep outside.”
If this were before, she would have eagerly run over to embrace Blair, offer to run him a bath, change his sheets, and even buy him some comfortable sleepwear and slippers.
But she wasn’t that naive anymore.
After saying that, Bianca reached for the door, preparing to leave, but just then, Blair spoke again, “Bianca, I need to take a shower.”
