chapter259
Upon hearing about the needle, Winnie instantly burst into tears: “Mommy, I don’t want the needle! Please, I want to go home!”
Bianca’s heart clenched at her daughter’s cries. She knew the IV was necessary for recovery.
Setting her jaw, she stood up and pulled Blair toward the door.
Seeing Bianca leave, Winnie’s sobs intensified into wails.
Inside the room, Winnie’s continuous cries echoed.
Outside, Bianca leaned against the wall, her body trembling violently as tears streamed down her face.
Watching her distress, Blair finally approached. He slipped his arm around her shoulders and murmured gently: “It’s alright. Winnie will be fine. I’m right here with you. Always.”
Bianca leaned against the wall, feeling utterly drained as her heart pounded erratically.
Winnie’s wails echoed from the room, each gut–wrenching sob fraying Bianca’s nerves.
A daughter was flesh of her flesh; those cries made Bianca’s own heart ache.
Seeing her tears, Blair reached to embrace her, but she violently slapped his hand away before contact.

“Blair, don’t touch me!”
Bianca lifted her head, bloodshot eyes blazing with bitterness and hatred as she glared at him.
Blair silently withdrew his hand at her reaction.
In the hospital room, Winnie kept shrieking—the louder she cried, the deeper Bianca’s pain grew.
Blair felt the same; though his face stayed neutral, turmoil churned inside him.
He was terrified too.
With only one daughter, any harm to her would haunt him forever.
Bianca fought to control her anger, refusing to lash out at Blair.
But Winnie’s cries in that room never ceased.
They only intensified.
Finally snapping, Bianca whirled toward Blair, crimson eyes accusing: “Blair, didn’t I warn you you’d hurt Winnie? Why ignore me?”
Resentment choked her as her chest heaved violently.
Not once in their marriage–not even when Blair stayed out–had she been this unhinged.
Yet now she screamed at him, demanding answers with every shred of strength.
Blair had never seen her like this; even discussing divorce, she’d been calm.

But faced with her fury, he found no words.
Bianca stared at him, tears spilling like scattered pearls.
Her composure shattered–tears unrestrained, thoughts spiraling.
Blair stepped closer, concerned, but Bianca retreated, blocking him: “Blair, stay away. I can’t look at you.”
Frowning, he said, “I know you blame me, but Diane missed Winnie. She hadn’t slept well in the hospital, so I thought Winnie could comfort her-”
He trailed off.
Bianca cut through his pause, tears falling as she laughed bitterly: “You always mention Diane. Why not let her bear your child?”
Blair’s frown deepened: “I told you–Winnie’s my only child. But if you wanted, we could have another. If not, I won’t.”
Bianca knew he shielded Diane from pregnancy’s toll and childbirth’s risks.
But did sparing Diane mean sacrificing her?
Wasn’t she human too?
Winnie’s cries turned hoarse, yet she still wouldn’t stop.
Bianca listened to her daughter’s cries, recalling Winnie’s sweet and adorable past, then remembering what the teacher had said that day. Her heart felt as if a piece had been gouged out.
Thinking of Blair’s actions, Bianca resented him even more.

Her eyes red, she confronted him: “Blair, my Winnie’s only five. She might not like me, but she’s so young. What exactly are you trying to do?”
Bianca was getting emotional. Seeing her like this, Blair instead
retorted, “Can you calm down?
What child doesn’t get sick?
What child doesn’t end up in the hospital?
Are you so sure she caught the flu at the hospital?
Couldn’t she have gotten infected at school?”
“Blair, Winnie’s suffering like this, and you’re still defending Diane?”
