chapter 294
Her conclusion: Blair had cheered Diane up in bed.
After watching, Bianca locked her phone.
Recalling Blair’s promise to return last night, she almost laughed aloud.
The moment Diane said she was unhappy, he’d raced over to offer himself.
Meanwhile, he’d probably forgotten his own feverish wife existed.
Bianca washed up and headed to check on her daughter.
Approaching the pediatric VIP wing, she heard Winnie’s delighted. voice before finding the room: “Maxine! I missed you so much!”
Bianca froze mid–step.
She didn’t catch Maxine’s response.
Still, she moved toward Winnie’s room.
Pausing at the doorway, she hesitated to knock.
She just wanted a glimpse–if Winnie was fine, she could leave reassured.
Peering inside, she saw Maxine feeding Winnie.
It seemed normal–until Maxine put a spoonful into her own mouth.
After chewing, she spit it back onto the spoon and lifted it toward

Coaxing sweetly, Maxine murmured, “Be good, Winnie. Eat Grandma Maxine’s special food, and all your sickness will vanish.”
Bianca’s brow furrowed. Surely Winnie would refuse this.
But unexpectedly, Winnie didn’t refuse and even opened her mouth.
Just as that spoonful of food chewed by Maxine was about to enter Winnie’s mouth. Bianca finally couldn’t hold back and kicked the hospital room door open.
At the same time, she shouted, “Winnie, don’t eat that!”
Winnie was startled, staring dumbfounded at her mother entering the
room.
Without a word, Bianca strode to Maxine and flipped over the rice bowl with one swift motion.
The soupy mess instantly drenched Maxine’s clothes.
Before Maxine could recover, Bianca demanded sharply, “Isn’t this disgusting?
Is this how you feed a child?”
Maxine finally snapped back, wiping her clothes with tissues while retorting, “What’s disgusting about this?
Didn’t Diane and Elijah grow up just fine this way?”
Bianca rarely got this furious, so she fired back without hesitation, “That’s why Elijah and Diane are just as disgusting as you.”

Maxine flared up too, standing to point at Bianca, “How dare you speak. like that?
I woke up at six to make this breakfast, slaving away until eight! You not only ruined it but also insulted my children! Bianca, do I owe you something?”
As her voice faded, the hospital door swung open from outside.
Graham walked in.
He hadn’t found time to visit since Winnie fell ill, and now he stumbled upon this scene.
Entering the room, Graham saw Bianca and Maxine locked in confrontation.
Approaching, he instinctively sided with Maxine’s group, asking, “What happened?”
Hearing this. Maxine rattled on: “Bianca barged in and ruined the breakfast I painstakingly made for Winnie! Not only is she ungrateful, she called Diane and Elijah disgusting!”
Bianca stood silently nearby, disdaining to explain anything to Graham.
After Maxine finished, Graham turned to Winnie, “Winnie, is Grandma Maxine telling the truth?”
Unsure but trusting a child’s honesty, he waited.
Winnie had sat quietly by the headboard since Bianca stormed in.
Only when questioned did she lift her head to answer calmly, “Uncle Graham, Grandma Maxine is right. Mommy did flip the breakfast and called Aunt Diane and Uncle Elijah disgusting.”

Graham gently ruffled Winnie’s hair before straightening to confront Bianca. “Did Blair ever tell you not to show up around Winnie unless necessary?”
Challenged, Bianca just shrugged indifferently, “Actually, no, he didn’t.”
Though Winnie’s words stung, repeated hurts had numbed her.
Graham stared at Bianca, his tone icy and certain, “People like you will only corrupt Winnie. Don’t you know that?”
Bianca was amused by Graham’s words. She retorted, “Someone as blind and foolish as Mr. Palmer is probably more likely to make Winnie stupid, right?”
