Chapter 9
Next month?
She could come back this month, but who knew about next month?
She had been trapped in this cage long enough, and she was done. She was tired.
After a brief pause, she stood up and said to Lila, “When he comes. back next time, remind him that I’ve left something for him on the desk.”
Lila nodded obediently. “Understood, Mrs. Avery.”
Bianca grabbed her bag and left Golden Residence.
She got into the car, but she had no idea where to go.
Eventually, she found herself driving toward a crowd of young people spilling out of a place called “Ylagos Grand Hall.”
The crowd quickly dispersed, but three figures remained, and Bianca. couldn’t take her eyes off them.
Blair and Diane were holding Winnie’s hands, one on each side, gazing at each other.
“Diane, you’re so pretty, like a fairy,” Winnie said with a smile.
piano playing sounds beautiful! When I grow up, will you teach me how to play?” she asked sweetly, her voice full of admiration.

“Diane,” Winnie added, playfully shaking Diane’s arm.

Diane, wearing a white long gown, looked exquisite–like a star falling into the dark night, radiating brilliance.
She leaned gently toward Winnie, her expression soft. With a playful touch, she tapped the tip of Winnie’s nose with her finger and smiled. “As long as you like it, I will definitely teach you.”
Winnie jumped up excitedly, then turned to Blair and asked, “Daddy, isn’t Diane amazing?”
Blair smiled and nodded. “Yeah.”
He was a man of few words, but that simple “Yeah” carried all the warmth and admiration he felt.
Winnie grinned even wider. “When I grow up, I want to be as amazing as Diane.”
Through the car’s windshield, Bianca watched the scene unfold,
The admiration in Winnie’s eyes had never been directed at her.
But then again, it made sense. After their marriage, she had focused entirely on Blair and Winnie, letting herself slip and losing touch with the things she once enjoyed.
To Winnie, she was just a woman who spent all her time in the kitchen, while Diane was the pure, untouchable ideal.
That thought pierced Bianca’s heart, and the pain spread, heavy and suffocating.
At the entrance of the hall, Winnie stretched out her arms and bounced. on her feet, calling out, “Diane, I want you to carry me!”

Blair quickly stepped in. “Winnie, Diane is in a dress. It’s not easy for her to carry you. Wait until we get to the car.
As she heard this, Winnie’s face dropped, clearly disappointed.
Diane, noticing this, immediately bent down to pick her up, smiling at Blair. “It’s fine, as long as Winnie wants me to carry her.”
Blair smiled warmly, his eyes full of affection for both of them.
Diane carried Winnie as they descended the stairs, with Winnie leaning into her and rubbing her cheek against hers. Blair followed behind, holding up the hem of Diane’s dress.
A man who could command the business world and never back down from a challenge was now bending down to lift the skirt of a woman’s dress.
They all got into the car, and the vehicle drove off.
This was the “something important” Blair had mentioned.
Bianca couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh.
She sat in the car for what felt like an eternity until her phone suddenly
rang.
It was the hospital calling.
She answered professionally, “Mr. Norton.”
Bianca had trained in pediatric surgery, and after four years of being a full–time mother, she had returned to the hospital in a junior position.
On the other end, Darren Norton said, “Your training can be cut short. You can return to work next week.”

Bianca hesitated for a moment before asking, “Isn’t there a position for the volunteer medical outreach to the countryside? I’d like to sign up.”
