At the funeral of my fiancé’s elder brother, my sister–in–law suddenly knelt before me, gagging.
“I’m pregnant, and it’s Benjamin Carter’s.”
My husband Benjamin said calmly, “This is my elder brother’s dying wish. I couldn’t refuse.”

“At most, you can come stay at the Carter family every weekend from now on. Everyone will know I love you.”
“You’re an orphan; after breaking off the engagement with me, what can you rely on!”
He didn’t know that on this trip to New York, I found my birth parents.
My father is the General Commander, too lofty for the Carter family to aspire to.
I laughed bitterly, “The esteemed Benjamin, can’t even protect his own widowed sister–in–law from remarrying?”
Benjamin’s expression darkened, “Sophia, you’re a woman too, why torment one more unfortunate than you!”
“Emily has agreed, it won’t affect your position as Mrs. Benjamin at all, what more do you want!”
Bitterness welled up in my heart; this position that should have been mine now needs an outsider’s consent.
I clenched my fists, and before the tears could fall, I turned and walked
out.
Benjamin stopped me with a dark expression.
“Go apologize to my older brother.”
“Swear on my older brother’s grave that you’ll take good care of this child, or you’ll never have peace!”

I looked at him in disbelief, for Emily and the child, he wanted me to swear with such vicious words!
Jennifer Carter rushed up and slapped me, “I knew it, you want to kill my grandson!”
“Benjamin, Emily is the daughter–in–law I approve of. Your older brother is gone, you can marry her now!”
“Break off the engagement with Sophia, that venomous woman, send her back to that old lecher’s home.”

Benjamin frowned, scolding his mother.

“Emily and I had no choice. Sophia will be my only wife.”
The next second, he dragged me to kneel before the tombstone.

I solemnly bowed my head to the ground three times before the tombstone, repeating my oath word for word each time.
