Chapter 4
I turned around and saw that it was Edward.
Nicholas released my collar and clenched his fist until his knuckles cracked.
“Edward, are you getting involved in my family matters now?”
Before Edward could respond, Nicholas swung his fist and hit him.
Edward stumbled back, his face turning red and swollen.
“Nicholas, are you out of your mind?”
I shoved Nicholas aside and hurriedly got out of bed to check on Edward’s injury.
Seeing my concern, Nicholas gritted his teeth in frustration.
“Why? Are you upset seeing me hit your lover?
“How long have you two been sneaking around behind my back?”
Suddenly, Nicholas yanked me away from Edward, then rolled up my sleeves, revealing the scars on my arms.
“Do you think I wouldn’t find out? We shared the same bed, and you called his name in your sleep. Do you know how much it disgusted me? Your mind, overflowing with an unbearable yearning, sought release through self–harm! Briella, you are quite remarkable!”
Nicholas’s face twisted with anger then shifted as a triumphant smirk formed on his lips.

“It’s good that I gave you the abortion pill before, to get rid of that bastard child. ”
“What did you just say?!” I was shocked.
I stared at him, a cold shiver running through my body. I couldn’t believe he was capable of such cruelty.
The child he referred to was ours, but he wrongly believed it was Edward’s.
That morning, I was still tied up with business matters at the company.
Nicholas made me a bowl of chicken soup and personally fed it to me. As soon as I finished swallowing it, a sharp pain shot through my lower abdomen.
At that moment, his face filled with panic, and he rushed me to the hospital without even changing his clothes.
I never suspected that it was his doing.
At that time, I felt immense guilt, believing that the miscarriage was a result of overwork, and I even fell into depression because of it.
Recalling all of this, the emotional and physical toll hit me hard, causing me to curl up in agony.
Seeing me in such pain, Edward wiped the blood from his lips and landed a punch on Nicholas’s face.
“You bastard! Nicholas, you monster!
“Briella and I are innocent! The child is yours and Briella’s!
“Briella can’t have children naturally! Do you have any idea how much she’s suffered?

“She was constantly on medication and undergoing injections to conceive. The pain even drove her to self–harm, blurring the line between reality and her suffering.
“And as for her sleep–talking, that’s something she’s done since she was a kid. She probably called out random names in her sleep. You cheated on Anya and thought you’d face the consequences, so now you’re accusing me and Briella of being like you! You’re just lying to yourself!”
Nicholas shot back, “You’re just making things up!”
There was a flicker of panic in his eyes, but he quickly masked it with a calm demeanor.
“Huh! This is all just a plot between you two! I never cheated on Briella, it was Briella who betrayed me!”
No matter what, Nicholas just wouldn’t own up to it.
Edward spun around, signaling his assistant to toss a bunch of papers and photos at Nicholas and Anya.
He said, “Say whatever you want! The fact is, you cheated with Anya!
“Just look!”
The photos showed Nicholas and Anya together in bed, and also Anya’s positive pregnancy test.
When she saw these, Anya freaked out, flipping the photos over onto the floor. Her eyes were wide with fright as she pressed herself closer to Nicholas.
“You despicable man!” Nicholas yelled, getting up to punch Edward again, but Edward kicked him back down.
Edward then picked up a photo of them kissing and shoved it in

Nicholas’s face.
“See this for yourself! I guess friends can kiss now, huh?”
He continued, “And you called me despicable? You killed your own child. You’re not even despicable, you’re not even human.”
“What do you want?” Nicholas shrieked, backing away.
“Well, that’s up to Briella–she’ll decide how to punish you,” Edward replied.
“You wicked woman, you made it all up!”
Nicholas glared at me, his eyes full of hatred.
Seeing that he still wouldn’t admit his wrongs, even facing serious trouble, I scowled in disgust.
“Since the proof is clear, why don’t we accuse him of bigamy? Send him to prison!”
