Chapter 10
When Joaquin returned home, Myra had almost finished cooking.
Seeing him come back, Myra hurriedly greeted him and brought the food to the dining table, but Joaquin went straight into the kitchen and turned off the gas.
Seeing Joaquin’s darkened eyes, Myra inexplicably felt a bit anxious.
“Joaquin, why did you turn off the gas? My food was not cooked yet.”
Joaquin cornered Myra against the wall, staring into her eyes, and slowly spoke, “Don’t you have anything to say to me?”
Myra noticed that Joaquin was empty–handed and wanted to change the topic.
“By the way, Joaquin, didn’t you go out to buy groceries? Are the groceries left outside?”
“I just need one more soup, I will go wash the vegetables right away.”
After speaking, Myra wanted to leave, but Joaquin didn’t give her a chance at all.
“Myra, you were not pregnant, right?”
Myra’s breath hitched, but she still pretended to be calm.
“Joaquin, what are you saying? That day at the clinic, didn’t you hear the doctor say that I was pregnant?”
Joaquin coldly spoke, “I saw Felipe, and he told me everything.”

“It was not Harley who instructed him to track you at all back then,
everything was just a staged play by both of you. Myra, how much longer do you
deceive me?”

Myra still wanted to argue.
“Joaquin, I did not…”
But Joaquin interrupted her, a touch of crimson staining the corners of his
eves.
“Enough, how many things did you slander Harley, and how many times. did you make me misunderstand Harley?”
Myra clenched her fist, her eyes filled with a hint of sadness.
“Do you have her in your heart, right?”
“Although you didn’t say it, I could tell that you had Harley in your heart.”
“Joaquin, you constantly claim that you don’t love her, but in reality, whenever it comes to anything related to her, you, who are usually level- headed, always lose your sense of proportion.”
Joaquin instinctively took a few steps back and didn’t know how to respond.
Myra tightly embraced Joaquin’s waist, feeling somewhat excited.
“Joaquin, I was really scared. I was afraid that you would insist on being with Harley, regardless of societal judgment. I was afraid that you would abandon me and not care.”
“We grew up together since childhood, worked together, went to the countryside together. We were meant to be a perfect match, weren’t we? Why can’t you ever see me?”

“How can one force something like emotions?”
The one thing you should never have done is to hurt Harley. She was just a child who loved the wrong person and suffered so many accusations and blame from those close to her.
“I also had a responsibility, and the root cause of her suffering was me. It was me who didn’t fulfill my role as an elder, didn’t guide her properly, and that’s what led to the current situation.”
Myra reached out her hand and caressed Joaquin’s face.
“Joaquin, it’s no use talking about these things now. Let’s just go back to the city and live our own lives.”
“You took care of Harley for so long, and the debt owed to her parents has long been repaid. Moreover, she has grown up now, with independent thinking and the ability to judge right from wrong.”
“She chose to leave, isn’t that the answer she gave?”
Myra’s eyes flickered with a glimmer of hope as she saw Joaquin bowing his head in silence.

Joaquin lifted his head, his gaze extremely cold.
“Wrong is wrong, we all should admit our mistakes.”
“I will voluntarily admit my mistake to the organization and give up the opportunity to return to the city this time. As for you, reflect on yourself and we can discuss going back when you are ready.”
He left these words and turned away, leaving Myra standing alone in
