Chapter 109
Chapter 109
Third Person POV
Isla’s eyes flew wide, her lips trembling with shock.
For a long moment, she couldn’t even find her voice. Then finally, it came out in a hoarse whisper:
“No… no. You’re telling me that little ill–bred bitch is a noble?! No! Impossible!”
“I didn’t want to believe it either,” Otto growled through clenched teeth. “But it’s the truth. No one can fake their own memories. I saw it during her treatment–her mother was the heir to Frostpine Pack, with the right to inherit the Alpha’s position. That means Aria Collins has that same right. And more importantly: this is Frostpine Pack we’re talking about, Isla! Do you understand what that means?”
Of course Isla understood.
Frostpine Pack was one of the rare matriarchal packs in the world. Their Alphas were always women.
If Aria were a noble from any other pack, she’d just have status, nothing more. But being Frostpine noble meant something else.
It meant Aria truly had a chance to become a female Alpha.
The small–town little whore Isla had always despised… was actually a potential Alpha.
There was a tense silence. Then Isla suddenly exploded:
“Fuck, fuck, FUCK!!!”
“Hey, keep your voice down,” Otto hissed. “Didn’t you sneak in here?”
But Isla lunged forward and yanked his collar through the bars. In the torchlight, her beautiful face twisted in an ugly way.
“If she’s noble, then how the hell did she end up a skanky little cunt like this?” she snarled.
Otto blinked at her, startled by her fury. He stammered, “S–something about her mother falling out with Frostpine’s leaders… so to protect Aria, she hid her daughter’s identity and spirited her away. As for the details, I don’t know.”
Isla let go of him and began pacing back and forth, biting at her nails, muttering curses like she’d lost her mind.
“Hey, can you calm down and maybe figure out how to get me out of here?” Otto snapped.
But Isla didn’t seem to hear him, still whispering to herself:
…No, that doesn’t make her high and mighty. It doesn’t change that she’s stupid, childish, and dull as hell. She’ll never go back to Frostpine Pack…she doesn’t deserve to be a noble. Between the two of us, I’m still the better one…”
“Oh, stop lying to yourself,” Otto cut in, exasperated. “Don’t you get it? She’s Grayson’s first love! Their scents match like cookies and hot milk. They don’t know who they really are yet, and you can already see how obsessed he is with her. He never forgot her. Once he realizes who she is, you won’t stand a
chance!”
Isla snapped her head toward him, eyes blazing. “That was just a childhood crush. He’ll come to his senses. He’ll see who’s truly right for him.
“The one fit to be a female Alpha–that’s who’s right for him,” Otto sneered mercilessly. “Come on, Isla. Do you honestly still think you’re above her? That girl has Alpha blood. She has the potential to be an Alpha. Imagine how powerful her wolf will be. Grayson and her could rule the fucking world together. And you? Next to her, you’re nothing-”
“Shut up–SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!”

Chapter 109
Isla’s furious scream shook the dungeon walls. Otto staggered back, cursing. “Why the fuck are you screaming at me? I’m just trying to make you
reality”
Isla dragged her fingers through her hair, chest heaving. Slowly, her breath steadied, her face hardening into something cold and frightening.
“You’re right.”
She said at last, voice low and deadly. “Killing her wolf isn’t enough anymore…Aria Collins must die.”
“That’s more like it.” Otto smirked, “Luckily, she’s forgotten everything about her childhood, and he hasn’t recognized her yet. They don’t know what we know. We’ve got plenty of chances to get rid of her. Now let me out, so we can figure out the next step.”
Isla narrowed her eyes, moving closer to the bars.
“And what do you think our next step should be?” she asked.
“Isn’t it obvious? Kill Aria Collins-”
y
“No. The next step is surviving this crisis,” she cut him off, lips curling in a cold smile. “That machine you built to kill her wolf? It’s in the hall right now, being dismantled. Any second now, Grayson will know our true intent. He’ll hate me to the gut, and he’ll kill you. Then we’ll both be screwed.”
Otto froze.
Then slowly, he stammered, “T–that’s not a big deal. We can say… say they don’t understand healing or instruments. Hey, didn’t you claim Aria’s screwing that young healer? That’s a decent excuse.”
“No. Those excuses won’t work anymore. Grayson’s too smart. He’s already suspicious.”
Otto snapped, “Then what the fuck do you suggest?”
“The only way… is for someone to take the blame. Completely.” Her tone was flat, merciless.
Otto blinked, not yet understanding what she meant by that.
Until Isla reached into her pocket and pulled out a gun.
His eyes went wide with terror.
“No, Isla! You wouldn’t-”
She pulled the trigger without hesitation.
The shot cracked through the dungeon. Otto crumpled, the bullet through his skull. He was dead before he hit the ground.
Isla stood tall. She looked down at his body icily as if it were a dead rat.
Then she crouched, pried the gun into his limp hand.
“…Such a shame, Otto. You were my best piece on the board. You didn’t have to die… but you screwed up. You left too many cracks. And I’m disappointed.” She whispered.
Then she took out a letter from her coat and placed it beside him.
“I prepared this for you. A confession in your handwriting. You’ll take the fall for everything. Consider it the last thing you did for me.”
She stood up, smoothed her skirts, and cast one last indifferent glance at his corpse.
Then walked away.

Chapter 109
Aria’s POV
I hadn’t slept all night, nerves strung light as I waited for news from the hall. So when a soldier knocked at my door, I shot to my feet.
“Is it done?” I blurted.
“Yes, Miss Collins. The machine has been dismantled completely. You can come downstairs
Grayson took my hand. “Let’s go.”
now”
We hurried to the hall. Red Stone Pack soldiers blocked the whole area off, keeping everyone else out. In the center lay the dismantled machine.
“No one touched it during the dismantlin
““manded.
“No. We made sure no one came near it.”
“And the result?”
“I was right!” Malik rushed over, a book clutched under his arm, “Look here–the diagrams prove it. This device was built to kill wolves. The most vile, inhuman device ever designed. It should’ve been banned years ago!”
My heart thundered. I grabbed Grayson’s arm, excited. “You hear that?”
“I do.” There was a dark storm swirling in his gray eyes. And fury was burning. “Bring
me
Otto and Isla. Now.”
“Yes, Alpha!”
Soldiers poured out. Grayson turned and crushed me in his arms.
“I can’t believe I trusted that fucking bastard,” he growled through clenched teeth. “I never should’ve let him treat you.”
“I’m okay,” I whispered back. “We found out before he could do much damage. But now… what do we do with them?”
“I’ll skin Otto alive. I warned him already. If he ever lied to me, I’d turn his entire pack to fucking ashes. Now is the time to make that come true,” His voice was an icy snarl. “And as for Isla-”
The sharp click of heels rang out. Soldiers escorted Isla into the hall.
“What happened?” she asked, her wide–eyed, looking innocent as usual.
She knew damn well what happened.
“It’s all clear now,” I said loudly. “Otto never meant to heal me. He
was trying to kill my wolf!”
“What?!” Isla gasped, her face pale with shock. “No. No that’s impossible. Otto would never do that…he promised me!”
“So you are saying you played no part in this? Don’t be ridiculous. You and Otto were in it together.” My voice was ice.
Her face shifted. Then she tried again, desperate: “I told you–I only want Grayson to be happy. Hurting you would hurt him. I’d never do that.”
“Bullshit.” I spat.
She whipped toward Grayson, pleading. “Grayson, you know me. You trust me. You know I’d never do this.”
He looked back at her with freezing eyes, his whole body radiating fury. “I’m very disappointed in you this time, Isla.”
Her face turned pale. “No, wait. Just ask Otto! I swear, I knew nothing of his plan!”

I clenched my fists. She wouldn’t admit a damn thing unless she was forced to face Otto.
But why the hell was it taking so long to bring Otto here?
Just then, a soldier stumbled into the hall, panicked and horrified.
“A–Alpha Grayson…the prisoner Otto was found dead in his cell. Suicide,” he cried.
