Chapter69
After leaving the hospital.
“Bzz bzz…”
Charlotte’s phone suddenly vibrated.
“That jerk, finally calling back…”
She eagerly took out her phone, only to find it was just a spam message.
“What is he doing? Is it really that hard to call me back?”
Kathy looked at her curiously, her hands full of prenatal supplements. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh, nothing!”
“You’re pregnant now, so make sure to rest when we get home. Absolutely no strenuous activity.”
“Got it, Mom.”

In the blink of an eye.
Another two days passed.
Gregory seemed to have vanished into thin air, with not a single word from him.

By now, he had been out of contact for four days.
Charlotte grew increasingly uneasy. “What on earth is going on? It’s been days already, why haven’t I heard a single word? At least reply to my messages!”
She sent Gregory a few more messages, asking him to call her back when he saw them.
Unfortunately.
There was still no response at all.

Monday.
CharChat Media.
Charlotte arrived at the company feeling rather downcast. Coupled with the discomfort from her pregnancy, her mood was even lower.
Meeting room.
The vice president looked grave. “Ms. Lindsey, there’s some bad news.”
“What news?”
“Our company’s streaming ads have been reported for allegedly plagiarizing someone else’s copy. We’ve also been accused of having incomplete employee contracts and exploiting staff.”
“Yes, and someone has reported our company for non–transparent tax practices, alleging tax evasion. We’ve already received several investigation notices and orders to rectify from the authorities.”

Charlotte’s heart pounded–she immediately realized this was Timothy’s doing. “Have the legal team handle these issues right away.”
“Conduct a thorough investigation of all unreasonable and non- compliant areas in the company. Fix whatever can be fixed as soon as possible.”
The executives all looked serious. “Understood. We’ve already started to pay close attention to these problems.”
“However, we’ve suffered heavy losses this time. We spent tens of millions on streaming and advertising, and it’s all gone to waste.”
Charlotte’s frown deepened. “Alright, I understand. Let’s rectify things as quickly as possible!”
Today’s meeting was filled with nothing but bad news.
And managing a company was nothing like she had imagined–it was far from simple.
After the meeting.
Charlotte had just returned to her office when her phone started vibrating wildly on the desk.
Her secretary Andy rushed in holding a tablet, looking worried. “Ms. Lindsey, something’s wrong. You’re trending on the hot topics list.”
Hearing this, Charlotte instinctively took the tablet and glanced at the trending news.
The screen was filled with trending topic headlines.

“Charlotte Backed by Shady Capital, Father Suspected to Be a Politician”
“Rich Girl Suspected to Be a Fake Socialite, Actually Has Multiple ‘Sugar Daddies‘ Behind Her”
“Charlotte Suspected of Chaotic Private Life, Multiple Abortions While Studying Abroad…”
The comment section was flooded with malicious speculation, and many were even spreading obscene rumors about her.
Charlotte looked through it all. Though her emotions surged, it was still within what she could bear.
She had already experienced the pain of being cyberbullied and slandered in her previous life.
In her past life, Timothy had used public opinion pressure against her.
He made her feel inferior, drove her to despair, and thus completely controlled her.
Now, she would use his own methods against him.
Charlotte let out a cold laugh and said nonchalantly, “Heh. Just leave all this to the legal department.”
“Ms. Lindsey, we’ve already had the legal team send cease–and–desist letters to the rumor–mongers.”
“Do you need to issue a public clarification?”
Charlotte exited the screen. “No need. Sometimes, the more you try to explain, the worse it gets.”

After speaking, she couldn’t help but gag. “Ugh-”
Seeing this, Andy quickly poured a glass of warm water. “Ms. Lindsey, are you alright?”
