Timothy stopped her and said unhurriedly, “Mom, just drop it. Leave it with me.
“I told you already. Charlotte is just throwing a tantrum. I’m not gonna indulge her again. Just wait and see–as long as I give her the cold shoulder, she’ll come crawling back to me within a week.
“This time, I’m gonna make sure she learns her lesson. She’s gonna pay the price for foolishly thinking she can push me around. I’m not gonna marry her unless the Lindsey family doubles the wedding gifts.”
Hearing this, Evelin sat down tentatively.
Timothy was right.
Charlotte had been clinging to him for over a decade, and he couldn’t get rid of her, no matter what. There was no way she just stopped loving him like flipping a switch.
She sighed, “Even so, Timo, you gotta sweet–talk her. That always works with women. Be nice to her, alright? She’s the Lindsey family’s only daughter. Once you marry her, her family’s money will all be yours in the future. Is that so hard to understand?”
Timothy said confidently, “Chill, Mom. I’ve had it all planned out. Charlotte can never escape my control.”
He had to move fast to seize all the Lindsey family’s assets.

In the blink of an eye, a week had passed.
Charlotte had completed her transfer application to Freyburn University. After the summer vacation, she’d enroll as a transfer student.

Charlotte said, “No, I’m not. I’ll stay in Freyburn to finish my studies.” Jocelynn couldn’t help but gasp. She asked anxiously, “But… Why?”
Shrugging, Charlotte said coldly, “No reason. I just don’t wanna go abroad again.
“Oh, just so you know–I’ve terminated the lease on the villa in Scuania. If you still wanna live there, feel free to pay the rent yourself.”
Jocelynn panicked even more. “But… What about me? You know I went there to keep you company…
Charlotte interrupted her icily, “Stop. You got that wrong.
“I didn’t ask you to accompany me to Scuania. You and Claire kept begging my mom to help, and Timothy insisted I bring you along. Mom and I gave you a hand out of pity.”
Jocelynn’s body shivered as her eyes reddened uncontrollably. “I know, Lottie. You’re jealous of me and Timo, right?
“But there’s nothing going on between us. You’re the one he loves. He takes care of me because he feels sorry for me. That’s what it is.
“If it bothers you, I’ll keep my distance from him from now on.”
Charlotte sneered, “You think too much. I’ve broken off my engagement with him. From now on, keep whatever happens between you two to yourself. I’m not interested.”
