Chapter 4
Thank God I’d picked up some martial arts in my past life. I twisted away from Evander’s grip and shoved him back hard.
“Get your fucking hands off me!”
“And whatever happened to her isn’t my problem!”
“Are you out of your goddamn mind right now!” Evander’s eyes were completely bloodshot-he clearly hadn’t slept at all.
“If you hadn’t pissed her off last night, she wouldn’t have run off crying and straight into our enemies’ hands. This is all on you-so you’re coming with me to fix this.”

your hands on me!”
Evander didn’t even flinch from the hit, staring me down with zero remorse. “Sorry, Miss Elara, but this isn’t up for debate. We’ll do whatever it takes to bring Celeste home safe!” He tightened his grip on my arm and shouted down at his brother: “Renric! Get up here
and help me!”
My limited fighting experience might hold Evander off for maybe thirty seconds, but adding Renric to the mix? Game over.
WHAM! I crashed to the floor, staring up at Renric’s boots as he stood over me. I was already struggling against Evander’s
strength-what happened next was entirely up to Renric.
I looked up at him with desperation in my voice: “Renric, please… don’t do this!”
He swallowed hard, closed his eyes, and said simply: “I’m sorry.”
THUD! Both brothers held me down against the cold marble floor
