Chapter 20
“Why? Why are you so determined to destroy me completely?” Julian pointed at Lydia as she entered, shouting accusingly.
Lydia enjoyed watching Julian lose control, a slight smile playing on her lips. “I told you, you would pay for what you’ve done.”
“Lydia, I’ve already apologized. What will it take for you to forgive me? Can’t we go back to how things were? Or is it that you’re also materialistic, falling for Blake Winters because he’s richer than me?” Julian looked as if he’d only just understood her.
Lydia merely smiled without responding. After all, the current Julian wasn’t worthy of conversation.
“Clear out the office and throw away all the trash,” Lydia calmly instructed, considering Julian nothing more than garbage.
Julian struggled, rushing toward Lydia, but before he could touch her, security guards pinned him to the floor.
“Lydia, I truly love you.”
“I don’t want anything anymore. Just let me stay by your side, please?”
“If I could just see you…”
Lydia waved her hand, and he was dragged out.
Finally enjoying peace and quiet, Lydia took a deep breath.
Lydia had no real interest in keeping Hayes Group. She organized the shares and company affairs and handed everything to Blake.
“I only want Reed Enterprises. All this is for you.”
Blake held out his hand to her. She naturally took it, only to be pulled firmly into his arms. “Lydia, do you know how much you remind me of when I first saw you as a child? Confident and radiant, exactly like now.”
“I don’t remember meeting you before,” Lydia frowned.
Blake smiled. “We met several times. I just wasn’t impressive enough then to catch your eye.”
Lydia felt a pang in her heart.
In her youth, she had only had eyes for Julian, who had saved her. Because of that fixation, she had missed all the beautiful scenery around her.
“I’m sorry,” she lowered her gaze, feeling genuinely apologetic.
Blake tilted her chin up and gently kissed her. “No apologies needed. I only wait for you to willingly marry me.”
Lydia blushed, returning his kiss. “Anytime. I’m very much looking forward to it.”

Hearing that, Blake held the back of her head, deepening the kiss until Lydia was flushed and breathless before finally releasing her.
They scheduled their wedding for the following week.
On their wedding day, he knelt solemnly before the gravestones of Lydia’s parents. “Mom and Dad, please rest assured. I will take good care of Lydia, loving her for a lifetime.”
In front of them, he presented a prenuptial agreement giving all his assets to Lydia.
“Baby, from today forward, I am yours to command. If I ever stray, you can divorce me and leave me penniless.”
Lydia happily nestled into his embrace, holding him tight.
She thought this must be what true love is-someone who treats her like a princess and lets her be herself…
After marriage, she remained happy, grateful to have met Blake.
As for Julian, rumor had it that before the police could arrest him, he fled with the last of the Hayes money. He secretly boarded a ship to Southeast
Asia but drowned during a storm.
Maybe, his death was for the best.
That way, they would never meet again in any lifetime.
