Chapter 19
The bloodstains from Joannie’s removal hadn’t been cleaned up when Matteo’s phone began vibrating.
The secretary called for the third time, the background noise mixed with the chaos of board meeting arguments:]
“CEO Jackson, the vice president insists on terminating the partnership with Australia, and the CFO says…” “0
“Let them argue.“[]
He methodically took tissues, wiping away the scattered bloodstains on his hands.]
Only when the secretary said “the company will lose control if you don’t come soon” did Matteo throw the tissue into the leather sofa and grab his car keys to leave.
The projector in the conference room was still flickering, with over a dozen pairs of eyes staring at him as he entered.]]
Matteo scanned the data on the screen and casually circled the contract loopholes: “We’ll bear the penalty fees. Re–tender within three days.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the vice president stood up abruptly: “CEO Jackson, this is a three hundred million project!”
“Problem?” He turned back impatiently.
Everyone fell silent, cold air creeping up from their necks, only the projector making intermittent sounds.]
For the next two hours, Matteo’s fingertips kept tapping the table, his gaze fixed on his phone, not even noticing when tea spilled on the documents.
As soon as the meeting ended, his assistant finally rushed in: “Found her! Ms. Yunia is now in England, working at Claude Design Company.”
Matteo grabbed his suit jacket and rushed out, ignoring the vice president’s advice from behind.[]
In the descending elevator, he frantically refreshed flight information, the screen’s light making his face appear gray.
In the VIP lounge, Matteo put on and took off the ring on his hand repeatedly, three times.
His phone pushed a notification from Claude Design’s official website. On the employee spotlight page, Yunia’s photo appeared in the first row.
She wore a white shirt, with a work desk covered in designs behind her, smiling brightly and boldly, like a flourishing rose.
And the man standing beside her was very close to her. The man wore an expensive custom suit with an aristocratic bearing.[]
Matteo’s heart shook violently.[]
Hearing news of her again, was she already choosing someone else?
He didn’t dare think further.[]
Chapter 19
“Immediately send me all information about Claude, and book me the fastest flight to England!“[]
“But the board is still waiting for you to return, and the group is about to start discussing joint ventures.“[]
The assistant knew this was obviously inappropriate to mention now, but given the current situation, he had to say it.]
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, the extremely impatient Matteo grabbed him by the collar.[]
“Whose side are you on? Do what I tell you to do. If the sky falls, I’ll handle it.“]
Seeing the violence in his eyes, the assistant didn’t dare say more.]]
“Alright, I’ll handle it immediately.”
In his anxiety, Matteo accidentally missed a step, his forehead hitting the nearby stairs, his body also sustaining several bruises.
The sharp pain gradually cleared his mind.
He moved his limbs and found nothing seriously wrong, then immediately got up.
He couldn’t wait for anything, feeling he couldn’t wait another moment.
Yunia was leaving, and with another man…
Jealousy drove him nearly mad, his eyes gradually moistening.
“CEO Jackson, the flight is booked, departing in three hours. You’re a VIP, so you can board early now.”
The assistant’s voice startled him so much he nearly dropped his phone.[]
Matteo roughly shoved the ring into his pocket.
Outside the airport, rain poured down heavily. He stared at the city’s distant, barely visible silhouette, his throat tightening.
“Yunia, I’m coming. Wait for me.
