Chapter 2
Yunia returned home the next day at noon.[]
Pushing open the door, she found Matteo sitting on the sofa. The moment he heard her, he shot up and strode over, pulling her into his arms.
“Yunia, where were you?” His voice carried obvious anxiety, his fingers gripping her shoulders tightly. “You didn’t reply to messages or answer calls. I waited all morning and almost called the police!“[]
Yunia looked up at him. His brow was furrowed, the worry in his eyes so genuine it made her feel dizzy.[]
Such a convincing performance.]
Seeing her silence, Matteo assumed she was still angry about last night. He quickly led her to sit down, picked up a hard–boiled egg from the table, carefully peeled it, and gently pressed it against her still–swollen cheek.
“Does it still hurt?” His voice was soft and tender, filled with distress. “I’m sorry. If I were in my main personality state, I would never let Joannie treat you like that.“[]
“At night, my alternate personality takes control of my consciousness. I… I can’t control it.” He sighed, his fingertips gently caressing her still–swollen cheek and the corner of her mouth. “If I hadn’t asked the bodyguards, I wouldn’t have known Joannie bullied you so badly.”
“Don’t come looking for me at night anymore. Stay home and rest properly, okay?“]]

Yunia’s lips twitched into a bitter smile.
He wasn’t afraid she’d be wronged–he was just afraid she’d interrupt his passionate moments with Joannie.
“Don’t worry,” her voice was barely a whisper. “I won’t come looking for you anymore.“[]
Matteo seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, thinking he’d successfully pacified her. He reached out to help her rest, but Yunia pulled a document from her bag and handed it to him. “Sign this.”
“What is it?”
“A house purchase contract.” She lowered her eyes, not letting him see her expression. “I found a house I like and want to buy it. Everything’s settled–just need your signature.“]]
Matteo signed without even looking, then smiled and ruffled her hair. “Hungry? I’ll cook for you.“]
He turned and went into the kitchen.
Yunia stared at the signed divorce agreement, her fingers trembling slightly. Seven years of marriage, and it ended so simply.
He’d signed it in such a dramatic way, and she only needed to wait through the legally required one–month period before she could leave him completely.
Matteo prepared a table full of her favorite dishes. Yunia ate quietly, then returned to the bedroom where she fell into a restless sleep.
When she woke, darkness filled the windows and the space beside her was empty.
Her phone screen lit up. She opened it to find messages from Joannie

[He says I look best in black stockings. Too bad he tore them all up.]]]
The attached photo showed Matteo’s long fingers threading through Joannie’s hair, his gaze tenderly piercing.
For the next few days, Matteo didn’t come home. He only sent daytime messages claiming he was on a business trip.
Yunia didn’t expose his lies. She simply packed her belongings in silence, preparing to leave.[]
Until one night at 3 AM, she was shaken awake from her dreams.]
Groggily opening her eyes, she found Matteo’s face inches from hers.[]
For a moment, she thought she was still dreaming.]
After all, since he’d claimed to have “split personality” and that his nighttime alternate personality only loved Joannie, he’d never gome home at night.[]
“Get up. Come with me.” His voice was urgent as he pulled back her covers.
Only then did Yunia realize this wasn’t a dream. She frowned. “What are you doing?“]
“We need to go to the hospital first.”
Matteo dragged her to the car without allowing refusal, running over a dozen red lights before stopping at a private hospital.
The red light outside the operating room glowed harshly. Matteo pulled her to face a doctor.
Yunia yanked her hand free. “What exactly are you doing?“]
Her voice trembled. “Didn’t you say you only like Joannie at night? Why are you bothering me again?“]]
Matteo’s face was dark and silent. The doctor beside him explained: “Miss Joannie is injured and hemorrhaging badly. She has a rare blood type that we don’t have in our blood bank. Your type matches perfectly, so we need you to donate blood.“]
Yunia stood frozen, then looked at Matteo in disbelief. “You dragged me here in the middle of the night… just to donate blood to Joannie?”
“Her life hangs in the balance. Only you can save her.” Matteo’s voice was ice–cold. “1000cc.“[]
“I won’t!” Yunia turned to leave. “Her problems have nothing to do with me!“]
Matteo grabbed her wrist In his desperation, he blurted out: “Yuni, just donate a little…“]
The moment the words left his mouth, both of them froze.
