Chapter 2 More than Meets the Eye
二
“Tomorrow at the square in our neighborhood, I’ll administer the acupuncture for all of you.” Felicity reminded them in a flat tone, “Remember to soak the medicine packets and don’t stay up late watching dramas. The female lead won’t die.”
Lately, the elderly folks in Cobalt Springs were completely engrossed in a TV drama.
At Felicity’s reminder, they were all guilty. “We… We’ll go to bed by ten from now on.”
In the past, no one could have imagined that these older folks would follow someone’s words so obediently.
Many of them had accomplished great things in their lives and even their identities were kept secret.
Matthew Anderson, the director of the neighborhood, was eagerly waiting for Felicity’s return. Now he finally breathed a sigh of relief. “Felicity, I’ve been keeping an eye on your house, making sure no one gets close.”
“Thank you, I appreciate it.” Felicity was always polite and handed him some fruit.
Matthew accepted it with a smile. “Helping you is no trouble at all. You’re not planning to leave again, are you?” As a director, he couldn’t control these people.
“No.” Felicity took the keys from him. “I’m not leaving.”
Matthew was overjoyed. “Great! I’ll leave you to settle in, Felicity. If you need anything, just let me know.”
Felicity nodded.
It was only after Matthew left that she unlocked the door with the key.
The lock was old and seemed ordinary.
But when she unlocked the first layer, a liquid crystal password lock appeared before her eyes.
“Do you want to activate the iris recognition?”
“Yes,” Felicity responded casually.
“Iris recognition in progress, please wait…”
“Iris recognition complete.”
“Welcome home, master.”
It was a gentlemanly electronic voice that hadn’t been activated in a long time.
With a click, the iron door automatically opened.
The room was instantly filled with light.
On the two–meter–high bookshelf, there were numerous ancient books about acupuncture medicine and jars filled with ginseng.
There were many potted plants by the door. Most of them were medicinal herbs, each with a label.
In the middle of the living room was parked a cool black and red motorcycle, a discontinued BMW Battle Axe.
Felicity walked over, took a bottle of mineral water from the fridge, and was just about to take a sip and watch some TV
drama.
Her phone which was charging on the table rang. It was the unique ringtone of a smartphone.
“Rich Lissy, wake up and take your orders! Rich Lissy, wake up and take your orders! Rich…”

On the third repetition, Felicity lit up the screen. “Speak.”
“Boss, there’s a big job in Bellhaven. Do you want it?”
Felicity took a sip of water. “What kind of job?”
B
“The wealthiest man in Capital City is looking for his granddaughter who has been missing for many years. She’s said to be Bellhaven and should be easy to find. It’s a lot of money.”
Felicity yawned. “Not interested.”
“Wait, wait! Boss, there’s another one that you might like!” The voice on the other end was eager, “It’s also a big job!”
Felicity propped up her chin lazily. “Tell me about it.”
“The Hartley family from Starling City is looking for you. They’ve offered a sky–high consultation fee of two million dollars. They’ve said that anyone who provides clues will also be rewarded. They’re really loaded!”
“Are they that sincere?” Felicity didn’t waste time and tapped the phone twice with her fingertips. “Send me the details and I’ll see
Okay!”
The next second, the floor–to–ceiling window turned into a projector, and the information was displayed.
The Hartley family, a noble family that had existed since ancient times, had been protecting the country for generations. In her memory, they used to live in the General’s Mansion.
In addition, the Hartley family had sent invitations to many famous doctors. They had booked the Caesar Hotel in the city for a week to see who could cure the illness of the family head, Leopold Hartley.
As for the description of the illness, there was very little information. It only mentioned that Leopold had been weak for many years, and it wasn’t suitable to disclose to the public.
It seemed that things weren’t as simple as they appeared. Felicity stretched out her fair long legs. “I’ll take this job.”
