Chapter 104
Paulette quickly returned to the room, closed the door, and then patted
her chest.
That’s too bold…
How could those words just slip out like that?
“But we were about to get married anyway, so he shouldn’t think it’s a big deal, right?” Paulette muttered to herself, then comforted herself.
When Reuben called, she was bored and scrolling through Tabitha’s Instagram.
“Sorry Paula, I was just meeting with someone important. Did you fall asleep waiting?”
Paulette said, “No, if you’re really busy, you can get back to me tomorrow.”
“Where else could I go? Going back to our country is definitely your call.”
Reuben pointed and said in a pleasant voice, “I was actually planning to call you. Your aunt has already cleaned up the house. Whenever you have time, let her cook something delicious for you.”
Paulette agreed to come, but didn’t mention Tabitha’s issue.
After exchanging greetings, I hung up the phone.
Reuben was staring at his phone, kinda puzzled by his niece. She agrees. to everything without asking any questions, not sure if she’s just being polite or what.
Chapter 104
She used to be so obedient, but there was something strange about her.
“Did Mr. Murphy talk on the phone for so long?”
A male voice suddenly appeared behind him, Reuben was surprised, turned around and said with a smile, “Mr. Chapman also knew I just returned to the country, haven’t seen Paula for a long time, so… I want to get to know her more when I have the chance, don’t mind.”
The corridor was dimly lit, enveloping Nelson’s tall figure.
When it comes to Paulette, he just raised his eyebrows slightly.
“Did you just call Paulette?”
“Yes.”
Reuben looked at me and asked, “Our house in Crireton was just cleaned up. Her aunt asked her to come home for dinner. If Mr. Chapman is free, would you like to come along?”
Nelson pursed his lips, with a hint of mist in his eyes, making it hard to
read.
What Paulette said is still fresh in my mind.
Boyfriend? Huh…
That girl thought she was the best, nobody else mattered to her.
These days Nelson was trapped in his own thoughts, thinking that
Paulette was really dating behind his back. Now he suddenly realized that it was just her way of provoking him!
His eyes turned cold, and he said in a deep voice, “Since it’s a family banquet, I’m not going.”

Chapter 104
The tone was bad, Reuben’s eyes flickered slightly, “Mr. Chapman, did Paulette upset you?“.
Nelson glanced at him and didn’t answer the question.
“I’ll think about the project Mr. Murphy mentioned when I get back. Let’s call it a day for today and get some rest.” He took a few steps out with long strides, then suddenly stopped.
He slowly said, “Since Mr. Murphy is going to stay in Crireton for a long time and build a relationship with Paulette, he should have a good idea of her daily life…”
Reuben, upon hearing this, immediately understood what he meant and continued, “Yeah, I know Mr. Chapman cares about Paula… She’s still young and may have a temper sometimes. As an elder, you must not stoop to her level.”
“Don’t worry, from now on, no matter what happens with Paulette, I will inform you right away, so you can rest assured!”
Nelson didn’t look back, just nodded and said uh–huh.
“So, about the project….
“I had my secretary contact you.”
“Alright, Mr. Chapman, take care!”
The figure gradually faded from sight, and Reuben completely wiped the smile off his face.
He glanced at his phone and muttered, “What, Dad? Is it really necessary to compare Paulette to a stepdaughter like that?”
However, Reuben didn’t mention any plans. He needed Nelson as a breakthrough to get his company into the domestic market. If Nelson

really had the ability to win over Paulette, it would be beneficial for
everyone.

On winter nights, there is often fog, and from a distance, it looks hazy and dark, not even a single star.
Paulette went downstairs and Larissa was busy in the kitchen.
“Larissa was early!”
“Morning!”
Larissa poked her head out and said, “Jeremiah left early today, looks like he’s going out of town. He asked me to tell you. Breakfast is on the table, better eat it while it’s hot.”
Jeremiah traveling for work was a common thing. Paulette didn’t have any special reaction.
After finishing breakfast, I went to work as usual. Before long, Cecilia showed up.
“I thought I would get feedback from the boss today, but turns out he’s gone on a business trip. I guess I’ll have to wait for two more days,” she said while watching Paulette’s reaction. “It’s okay, you can take these two days off and spend time with your fiance.”
Chapter 105
Paulette was busy organizing the documents in her hands, she didn’t understand what she meant at all.
Offhandedly, “My fiance is also on a business trip. I have a lot of work on my hands, I’m not just waiting for the boss, he can reply whenever he wants.”
Cecilia:
She already reminded so clearly, but Paulette just couldn’t GET it at all!
Cecilia hesitated, raised her hand, but in the end didn’t say anything. stomped back to the office.
Paulette glanced up and then focused all her energy on the blueprint in
her hands.
After a busy day at work, she had to drive to Reuben’s house by herself. Reuben sent her a location in the morning, a villa area in the third ring. road, not the most expensive area in Crireton, but famous for its tranquil
environment.
Paulette drove and thought. It seems like Reuben’s company has been. doing well these years.
The weather was fine.
In the distance, a few birds flew across the sky, looking like a family. After a while, two of them suddenly broke away from the group and flew in another direction.
The green light was on.
Paulette looked away, started the engine again, and got in line to go on the highway.
During rush hour, Paulette finally arrived at the place around 8 o’clock and saw Reuben at the door. She apologized, “Sorry, uncle, the traffic was really bad.”
“What are you apologizing for, kid?”
Reuben pushed open the gate, “I just got back a while ago. Your aunt already knew we would hit traffic, so she purposely delayed cooking. She’s still busy in the kitchen now.”
I went in, the yard hadn’t been planted with greenery yet, but it was very clean.
Paulette listened to his introduction and gave a few symbolic compliments.
“Let’s not talk about this anymore.
Reuben realized she wasn’t interested, chuckled awkwardly. “Let’s just go inside quickly, your aunt has been wanting to see you for a long time.”
When she got to the entrance, Paulette changed into a clean pair of slippers.
Before I could even think of an opening line, the energetic woman dashed out of the kitchen and exclaimed, “Is that Paula? Come on, let me have a look, I’ve missed you so much all these years!”
Paulette was surrounded by a big bear hug, the woman’s body completely pressed on top of her, almost suffocating her.
“Auntie… I really want to see you too.”
She took a deep breath and pushed her away.
Chapter 105
The woman in front of me was dressed casually, with a beige apron tied around her waist. Her hair was pulled back into a bun at the back of her head, looking a bit messy. With that bold and three–dimensional face, she seemed like a middle–aged woman not to be messed with.
This is completely different from what I imagined.
Paulette thought, Sophia Munoz is a professional woman after all, she should be competent or gentle.
Sophia had no idea what she was thinking, she was very friendly and casually asked Paulette about her resume over a few words.
Reuben took a look and said, “Alright, let’s finish eating first before we talk. Paula is hungry.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.”
Sophia didn’t look at him. “Then I’ll go cook first. Paula, you go upstairs ‘ll go cook first. Paula, you go upstairs and play with Tabby for a while. You sisters need to bond more.”
When it comes to Tabitha, Paulette remembers what happened a couple of days ago.
“Okay.”
She nodded, “Then I’ll go upstairs first, uncle, aunt.”
Paulette wasn’t walking fast, and soon she heard voices coming from downstairs, sounding like an argument. But the voices were deliberately lowered, so she couldn’t make out what they were saying.
There were three rooms on the second floor, easy to recognize.
There was a big One Piece figure hanging on the door facing the stairs, very bold and full of personality.
There shouldn’t be anyone else except Tabitha.
Just knocked on the door three times, and something was thrown out from
inside.
“Get lost! I said I’m not eating, don’t you understand?”
Paulette frowned, hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly, “It’s me, Paulette.”
There was no sound inside.
In one minute, Tabitha impatiently asked, “What’s up!”
Paulette had no expression, “Auntie said to come up and connect with you emotionally.”
“You? Me?” Tabitha laughed sarcastically, leaning against the door frame with her arms crossed. “In the end, we’re no different from strangers, what kind of emotional connection do we have?”
She gave me a look, leaned forward, and said. “So… just because you helped me out that day, you think you can threaten me?”
Paulette looked into her eyes, “What was threatening you?”
“Is there anything on you that’s worth threatening?”
