Chapter 118
Cecilia shook her head with a smile and glanced at Jeremiah next to Paulette – he was looking at the menu, occasionally asking for Paulette’s opinion in a low voice.
Only when facing Paulette, he would show such a gentle and patient side, others see only coldness and aloofness..
Cecilia had the answer in her heart, so she took the initiative to pour water for the two of them.
“Is it almost done?”
Paulette whispered to Jeremiah, took the tablet from his hand, and handed it to Cecilia. “Cecilia, take a look and see if there’s anything else you want.
to eat.”
Cecilia kept waving her hand, “I’m not picky, you guys decide.”
“Okay, that’s it for now.”
Paulette handed the tablet to the waiter, signaling him to hurry up.
At the dinner table, it was all small talk. Cecilia kept steering the conversation towards work, but Paulette was worried that Jeremiah wouldn’t understand, so she didn’t really want to continue.
“Where is Cecilia from?”
Cecilia paused, took a sip of water, and then said, “I’m from Litchton.”
This really surprised Paulette, “Really? Jeremiah and I also grew up in Litchton, that’s too coincidental.”
“Yeah, what a coincidence…” Cecilia chuckled and looked up, only to meet the man’s casual gaze across from her, as if he could see through everything, leaving no room for escape.
Cecilia’s heart suddenly tightened, she didn’t know how to react for a moment, but luckily the waiter started serving the dishes, easing the awkwardness that only she could feel.
“You should try this curry crab, it’s really good.”
Paulette handed her a piece and blushed, sticking out her tongue slightly, whispering, “My fiance is a bit shy, don’t mind him.”
Cecilia:
Jeremiah:
Paulette could feel the weirdness between the two of them, but she thought it was normal since they were meeting for the first time and not familiar with each other.
The meal went smoothly with her bringing up topics in the middle, and we finished it without any trouble.
Paulette was just a little confused inside.
Wasn’t Cecilia curious about Jeremiah?
How come when we finally met in person, we didn’t have much to say?
When she got back to the company, she asked this question and also explained to Jeremiah, “He’s actually not difficult to get along with, just because he’s not familiar yet, so maybe… a little reserved.”
Paulette nodded confidently and said, “Just meet up a couple more times.”
“No! Don’t need!”
Cecilia immediately said no.
Realizing she was overreacting a bit, she chuckled and said, “Um…everyone is pretty busy with work, so just grabbing a meal to get to know each other is enough, no need to get too close.”
Just kidding.
Just now during dinner, the look in the boss’s eyes…
Cecilia seriously suspected that her boss had already seen through her tricks! If she dared to play any more tricks, she might lose her job!
She just wanted to climb up, but ended up losing more than she gained by trying to steal the chicken.
Paulette was surprised by her transformation, before she could ask more, Cecilia slipped back to her own office.
“Weird…”
She mumbled and sat down. After a while, Jeremiah’s phone rang. “I forgot to ask earlier, do you guys want anything to drink?”
“No need, the company has everything.”
“Okay.”
Jeremiah was driving, the sunlight outside was shining on him, showing off his exquisite features, even his smile was handsome.
“That night I picked you up and we went home together.”
Paulette originally wanted to say no, but going home together was too tempting. She agreed.
Not long after hanging up the phone, Cecilia had someone gather the
design team for a meeting, with the focus still on the new styles for the next quarter.
Cecilia held her stack of design drafts and said, “The boss is very satisfied with Paulette’s design, so the new collection for this quarter will be based on this style.”
“Paulette, your next task is to continue with this style and complete the design series. You can delegate the current work to other colleagues. If anyone doesn’t cooperate, tell them to come to me.
The sound of official business echoed in the meeting room, and everyone looked at each other without saying a word.
Paulette still hadn’t realized, “Didn’t the boss not come to the company?”
“He didn’t come.”
Cecilia glanced at her and quickly looked away.
Chin up, saying: “Boss is so busy, we mostly communicate online.”
“Oh, that makes sense. Capitalists are always busy, whether it’s real or fake, they’re busy all day long.”
Next was the normal meeting process, lasting two hours. Paulette and Cecilia walked out together side by side.
Cecilia whispered. “I think you can consider your fiance’s opinions when designing.”
