I scrolled down and there was even a voice message from Maxine.
“Paula, when did you start your internship?”
Paulette: It should be in these few days, what’s up Maxine?
“So, you actually have an uncle settled in Pinazapa, he recently got in touch with Nelson, saying your mother left you an inheritance and wants to come back to see you. I just wanted to ask for your opinion.”
Uncle?
Paulette remembered, she did see an uncle when she was very young.
Back then, when our family wasn’t bankrupt yet, my uncle and aunt used to come over often to hang out. But later, they all immigrated abroad, and we hardly ever saw each other again. Now I can’t even remember what they look like.
They didn’t come back when it happened, so why do they suddenly want to see her now?
Paulette didn’t have much of a reaction and just said, “If he really wants to come, tell him to go straight to Crireton to find me.”
Maxine was surprised, “Are you interning at Crireton?”
“Um.”
“Did Nelson know?”
It seems like everyone asks this question – does Nelson know?

But now, he doesn’t seem to care, and whether he knows or not doesn’t really matter. So it’s better not to say anything, it can save a lot of trouble.
Paulette said, “Maxine, let’s not tell Nelson about this for now. He’s been pretty busy lately and probably won’t have time for me.”
Maxine knew exactly what was going on between those two, like a mirror
in her mind.
Fate works in mysterious ways.
She sighed softly, “Okay.”
“You can call me if you need anything, don’t try to handle it all by yourself, okay?”
Paulette hesitated for a moment and said, “Jeremiah in Crireton, he would
take care of me.”
“Really?” Maxine knew that Paulette and Jeremiah had a good relationship, that kid is reliable.
She finally let her guard down, but then she remembered the day when she picked up Paulette and said, “That’s good, if you start dating, Jeremiah can help keep an eye on you. Don’t let those boys easily take you away.”
When it comes to this, Paulette can’t help but feel a little guilty.
Where could it be taken by someone else?
Wasn’t it just Jeremiah?
Paulette didn’t dare say anything more, afraid of giving herself away. She asked a few questions about home and then hung up the phone.
She wandered around doing nothing, then packed up everything visible

that needed to be packed into boxes. It was like the final preparations before leaving, just waiting for Jeremiah’s project to be finalized before heading to Crireton.
In fact, faster than Paulette imagined.

That night, Jeremiah asked for her ID number and booked the plane ticket when he got back.
“Rest early today, flight at 1pm tomorrow.”
Paulette was a bit surprised, “So fast?”
“Um.”
Jeremiah returned her ID after booking the tickets, “Is it too early for the Quema partner to come tomorrow?”
“No,” Paulette muttered, clutching her ID, “good thing I already packed my bags ahead of time…”
Jeremiah was so charmed by her that he couldn’t help but scratch his itchy palm and rub her hair. “Ms. Davenport, you’ve worked hard. When we get back to Crireton, I’ll take you to eat lots of delicious food, okay?”
Paulette rolled her eyes, “I’m not a kid, you know.”
“Isn’t it?”
The man raised his eyebrows, “You will always be a kid in my eyes.”
Paulette didn’t say anything more, she just gave him a look and silently went back to her room.
Tomorrow is a big day for a fresh start.

Early in the morning, the first ray of sunlight streamed through the window, casting a golden veil on the floor. Paulette got up early, pulled out a light blue dress from the box, and put it on, making her skin look even more delicate and fair.
After finishing her makeup, she went out and Bryson was already standing in the living room, with breakfast he brought on the dining table.
Jeremiah glanced down at her slippers.
Toes exposed, with white and tender toes peeking out.
Paulette also noticed his gaze, and awkwardly chuckled twice, “You guys keep talking, I’ll go eat first, be right back!”
The project needed to be wrapped up, so Bryson had to stay here for a while.
Jeremiah and Bryson sorted out some work stuff, then called the driver to come pick them up.
Paulette finished breakfast and quickly changed her shoes. She sat on the box by the door, texting on her phone, saying goodbye to her friends in the group.
