Chapter60
Kaylyn bit her lip, still wanting to resist a little, and said, “Mr. Swanson, I just wanted to know the reason.”
Jeremiah’s eyes flashed with a dark color, “You will know.”
“Tomorrow night the marketing department has arranged a very important meeting with a business partner. Ms. Gentry is so capable, so it’s up to you to go.”
Kaylyn’s emotions, which had just dropped, instantly surged again, as she smiled and said, “Mr. Swanson, don’t worry, I promise to complete the
task.”
All departments were ready to go for team building after work, but then Lynda said the boss had something come up last minute, so tonight’s team building is canceled.
Cecilia touched her chin, looking like Sherlock Holmes, “Is this boss getting checked by his wife?”
Paulette: “How can you say that?”
“Oh no.”
Cecilia made a good point, “Look, a company’s boss, who isn’t someone whose word is law and must be followed? And to issue a notice and then cancel it, isn’t that just embarrassing himself?”
Paulette nodded and asked curiously, “Did the boss get married?”
According to what those people said earlier, he should be quite young.

“I heard there was a mistress…don’t know the details, she’s hiding it well.”
Hey babe, what’s this all about?
Paulette gave a glare and didn’t say anything more.
Cecilia took a deep breath, packed up her things, and said, “Since the team building is canceled, how about we go grab a meal together?”
‘Sure.”
Paulette thought she had already told Jeremiah, No refusal.
The two of them cleaned up together and went downstairs. Just then, Kaylyn came out of the office and the assistant next to her exclaimed, “In just two days, Cecilia and Paulette’s relationship has become so good?”
Kaylyn chuckled and didn’t say anything.
Since we’re so close, shouldn’t we stick together through thick and thin?
She had a glint in her eyes, came up with an idea.
Paulette and Cecilia found a restaurant nearby, a barbecue place with good online ratings, the kind that many people come specifically to take photos and check in.
“Today is my treat to welcome you to Dreammaker, so don’t you dare fight me for the bill.”
Cecilia finished speaking and ordered with the tablet, then gave it back to the waiter.
Paulette felt warm inside, like she had made her first friend.

Cecilia looked up and met her gaze, instinctively shrugging her shoulders back, “Why are you looking at me like that… it’s giving me the creeps.”
“Nothing, just think you’re great.”
“Don’t play the good guy card on me.”
Cecilia thought and then felt like laughing.
This girl, she’s really something. Young and kind, it’s hard to dislike her.
“You know, lucky for me you put in all that effort. If it were someone else, they would have been cheated out of everything.”
Paulette thought it was too much and said, “I’m not stupid, why would I let someone deceive me? Even though I lack social experience, I believe in intuition. You can tell if a person is good or bad just by looking at their face.”
“That’s true,” nodded Cecilia, but she also reminded Paulette, “However, in the company, it’s different from school. Many people will do anything for their own benefit. Don’t trust others easily. This is the first lesson when entering society.”
Paulette thought of many possibilities, but she felt they were all within her reach.
But she still nodded seriously, “Okay, I’ll keep that in mind.”
Neither of them expected that danger would come so quickly.
After dinner, Paulette took Cecilia home.
Cecilia saw her Porsche and was stunned, “Is this… your car?”
“I guess so…”

“Why do you still come to work at Dreammaker when you’re so rich?” She had seen a car blogger online talking about this car before, fully loaded with a seven–figure price tag!

Paulette didn’t know how to explain her current situation, she thought, “I don’t have that much money, the car was given to me by someone else, and I feel like…no matter how much money you have, you should have your own job.”
Cecilia reached out and touched the steering wheel, not denying the
statement, “Hmm, she’s indeed the girl I have my eye on. Let’s go, thanks for driving me home.”
“Okay, boss.”
Paulette dropped off Cecilia and on her way back, she picked up a small
cake.
When I got home, Jeremiah hadn’t come back yet.
Should we give them a call?
She hesitated to take out her phone, thinking the other party might be busy, and in the end, she didn’t make the call, went back to her room, took a shower, and went to bed.
And at that moment, Jeremiah was sitting in the corner of the compartment, drinking alone.
