I watched the light in his eyes flicker out, bit by bit. Still, he clung to hope, voice hoarse with desperation.
“Anya… is there really no chance left for us?”
Instead of answering, I asked him, “Do you remember what we talked about the day we realized we were fated mates?”
Back then, won’t the clingy, obsessed kind of couple everyone expected from bonded wolves.
We were two stubborn souls trying to figure each other out–so we sat down and made a list. Everything we couldn’t stand. Everything we hoped the other could learn to accept.

Theo had laughed back then, full of confidence. He slapped his chest and swore, “Anya, you’ve got nothing to worry about. I’d never even look at anyone else.”
“If you’re in the room, every other girl might as well not exist. You’re it for me. The only one that lights up my world–the star I’d spend my life chasing.”
I teased him, “And what if you break that promise?”
He raised his voice dramatically. “Then punish me! Let me lose you forever! Let Anya never look at Theo again!”
And then, grinning like a fool, he added, “But I’ll never give you

“I’m heading out. And one more thing–stop harassing my employees.”
After that day, Theo finally disappeared.
Life returned to normal, and I honestly thought I’d heard the last of him.
Until one day, Faye stormed into my office with wide eyes and
hotter-led gossip.
“You are NOT gonna believe this. Theo got tricked into sleeping with Elena!”
I nearly choked on my coffee. “Excuse me?!”
She scoffed. “I’m dead serious. That man’s got zero standards. He’d probably fall for a walking dumpster if it blinked at him twice.”
“Oh–and now she’s pregnant.”
“…Of course she is.”
Faye shook her head in disgust. “That girl would mate with a tree if it looked at her twice. And now, thanks to Celestwyn customs, they’re ‘bonding for life.“”
“That’s right,” she added with a dramatic pause. “They’re getting bonded.”
I stayed focused on the shop ledger in front of me, unfazed.
Faye frowned. “Why aren’t you asking for details?”
I gave her a sly smile. “Do I really need to?”
She rubbed her nose, sheepish. “Okay, fair.
Then she perked up again. “Let me tell yo
tell you what happened next–total karma.”
“Right after they formed the mate bond, the fighting started. Guess where they ended up?”
“The hospital.”
“Lucky for us, one of the nurses is
friend. She sent me a video.”
Faye pulled out her phone and pressed play.
