Chapter 11
Rachel took a deep breath and nodded hard. “Yeah. That’s it.”
She had just arrived and hadn’t found a place of her own yet, so she stayed at Edmund
and Amanda’s for the time being.
Amanda had already prepared a cozy guest room for her.
That night, Rachel lay on the soft bed, gazing out the window at the foreign moonlight.
Everything felt surreal. Distant. Almost like she’d stepped into someone else’s life.
But this was her new life now.
She’d made the decision. She was done chasing closure, done waiting on apologies that
would never come.
Aaron belonged to her past.
This place this city, this quiet house–was where she’d begin again.
Back at the Pack House, the decorations from the mating ceremony still lingered-
flowers, lights, streamers. And yet, everything was silent.
Sierra didn’t know what to say anymore.
Rachel had vanished.
Halfway through the ceremony, Aaron had walked off, ignoring the officiant, the
guests, and Sierra standing alone at the altar.
He left her there. In front of everyone.

She’d waited hours before he finally returned, thinking she could pout or cry and he’d
finally come back to her.

But instead, his face twisted with disgust. “Don’t touch me.”
The rejection hit like a slap. Sierra’s jaw clenched.
She wanted to rip Rachel apart.
That bitch had planned this.
She’d vanished on purpose, stolen the spotlight just to sabotage Sierra’s mating
ceremony.
“Aaron,” she said softly, inching closer. “You’ve had such a long day… maybe we should
get some rest.”
She slipped off her robe, the pink lace of her nightgown catching the dim light–subtle,
but unmistakably suggestive.
Aaron froze. Not with desire. But with disgust.
His jaw clenched, a muscle ticking as he stepped back like she’d just touched fire.
“Don’t,” he said, voice low and cold. “Just… don’t.”
“I said don’t touch me. Are you deaf?”
He yanked his arm out of her grasp, and Sierra stumbled back, her face going pale.
“I know you’re worried,” she stammered. “But Rachel’s an adult. I’m sure she’s fine.
The moment she said Rachel’s name, his whole expression changed–ice–cold rage
laced with panic.
Right then, his phone rang.
He picked it up. Whatever the person on the other end said made his voice drop like
thunder.
“Then keep looking! She didn’t just vanish into thin air. If anything happens to her-
God help you.”

He slammed the call shut, barely containing the storm brewing in his chest.
Then the phone rang again.
This time, he hesitated.
He stared at the screen, and Sierra noticed something strange–his hand trembled.
His voice shook slightly when he finally picked up. “Detective Ben…did you find her?”
Clatter-
The phone dropped from his hand.
Aaron stood frozen, like all the air had been ripped from the room.
The phone had landed face–up, and by some miracle, the speaker activated.
Detective Ben’s voice came through, clear and clinical: “We did find a body near the pack’s lakeside border. Based on the age and clothing, there’s a high probability… it’s
Rachel.”
For a moment, everything went still.
Sierra stared, stunned.
Rachel… was dead?
She’d really taken her own life—on Aaron’s mating night?
For a moment, panic surged. If Rachel had done this because of Aaron… he’d blame her. He’d never forgive her.
And worse–Rachel would become the girl he could never forget. The one who died for love. She’d be untouchable. Irreplaceable. A ghost in his heart that no one could compete with.
Sierra felt her lips twitch.

But then–she’s gone. Rachel was gone.
And Aaron… was hers now. No more rivals. No more second place.
She almost smiled. Almost.
But she knew better. She dug her nails into her thigh, forcing real tears to the surface.
Then, with a soft sob, she covered her mouth and whispered, voice trembling, “Rachel… why didn’t you come to me? You could’ve talked to me… I would’ve helped you…”
“Shut up!” Aaron roared, spinning on her like a storm unleashed. “Who the hell told you it was Rachel?”
Sierra flinched, shrinking under his rage. “I… I just thought… the detective said it was likely her-”
