Chapter 9
He said it so casually, like he was commenting on the weather.[]
I thought I’d misheard: “What?“]
Oliver was quiet for a moment: ‘Were you serious?“]]
“About what?”
“What you said at the hotel that day.“]
I was surprised he brought it up out of nowhere.[]
“What do you think?” I asked back.[]
Oliver didn’t answer, just looked at me.]
“What if I said I was serious too?“[]
My heart skipped a beat: “Then let’s give it a try.“[]
Oliver’s gaze intensified: “You sure?”
I smiled: “We’re both single anyway. It’s not like we’ll die from trying.”
Oliver suddenly leaned closer: “So if I kissed you right now, you wouldn’t mind?“[]
I instinctively held my breath: “If… if you’re gonna kiss me, just do it. Why all the talk?“|[]
Oliver chuckled softly and planted a gentle kiss on my forehead.[]
“Let’s start with this. Everything else can wait until we’re both ready,” he said.[]
I touched my forehead, not sure whether to laugh or cry: “You’re being way too much of a gentleman.“[]
“No rush. We have all the time in the world,” he said.[]
Looking at how serious he was, my nose started to sting and tears began falling.
He panicked: “Why are you crying?”
“It’s your fault! You turned a perfectly good confession into a business meeting,” I sniffled.[]
He paused, then suddenly laughed: “So what did you want instead?“]
“At least some flowers!”
He pulled a velvet box from his pocket: “No flowers, but will this work?“]]
My eyes went wide: “Are… are you sure?“]]
He said: “Of course. What did you think I was doing here?”

Chapter 9
So he’d planned all of this.]
“So, will you marry me?” He dropped to one knee.[]
I threw myself into his arms: “Yes.”
A month later we had our wedding, inviting only our closest people.
Milo and Gina didn’t come – word was they’d gotten divorced again.[]
Gina left with nothing, and Milo was drowning in debt.Д
But none of that mattered to us anymore.
We had our new life, our own happiness.
Looking back, I guess I should thank them.
If they hadn’t betrayed us, we never would have met.[]
If not for that betrayal, we never would have learned how to truly cherish someone.[]
Oliver… no, I should call him husband now.
He still doesn’t say much, but every little thing he does speaks volumes about his love.
And I finally understand what real happiness is.[]
Turns out, when God closes one door, he opens a window.
As long as you’re brave enough to step out, you’ll find the light that’s meant for you.[]
