Kaylee’s POV
Within hours, speculation that Selena Hindlin inspired Jax Puth’s love songs had exploded across the entire internet.[]
The same Jax who once couldn’t be bothered to make small talk with Selena had now written eighteen songs supposedly about her.[]
Fans were absolutely losing it online, declaring that Jax had finally seen the light–the ultimate enemies–to–lovers story unfolding in real time.
As if confirming these rumors, Jax showed up that afternoon at the studio where Selena was filming.
“Guys, check it out! Jax brought goodies for the whole team,” Amy announced, setting down bags of coffee drinks and pastries in the break room.
My colleagues immediately dug in, their comments flowing freely:[]
“Man, that’s actually super sweet of him.“]
“Classic move–he’s into Selena, so he’s buttering up everyone around her.“]
I sat quietly in the corner, reviewing the press release Amy wanted me to send to gossip outlets that evening.]]
It claimed Jax had carried a torch for Selena forever, and that when a guy like him falls, he goes all in for just one woman.[]
A wave of bitterness rose in my chest. I closed my laptop, suddenly feeling sick to my stomach.]
I rushed to the hallway, clutching a trash can while trying not to throw up. When I looked up, I locked eyes with him.[]
Jax Puth.
Selena stood beside him, the two of them looking like they’d walked straight off a magazine cover.
When Selena spotted me, her eyebrows shot up: “Kaylee, you okay?“]
While Selena showed concern, Jax stood with his hands in his pockets, looking anywhere but at me, completely detached.[]
I shook my head, trying to wave her off.]
Selena and Jax started walking away, but she turned back.[]
“Kaylee, wait–are you pregnant?“]
From the corner of my eye, I saw Jax–who had been walking with purpose–freeze mid–step.
I hesitated for a moment, then said quietly: “Yeah. I am.“[]
