Chapter 12
Kaylee’s POV
That evening, Selena broke the internet with a massive press junket attended by every major entertainment outlet.[]
It was the kind of media moment no one in Hollywood had ever attempted.[]
During the live–streamed event, Selena unapologetically confirmed that she and Jax had been in a manufactured relationship.[]
“Let’s get real–every celebrity couple you’re shipping is playing the game,” she said with stunning frankness. “I played it too, and unlike everyone else, I’m owning it.[]
“I’ll fake–date whoever boosts my metrics–speaking of which, my new film drops next month. Set your calendars.”
The press room went dead silent before erupting into a frenzy of follow–up questions.[]
“So, Selena, was Jax also using this publicity arrangement to promote his latest album?“]
“God, no,” Selena let out a laugh. “That man was 100% trying to make his ex jealous.
“Yes, the woman in those viral photos–Kaylee Taylor.[]
“She stuck with him when he had nothing. He never moved on, but was too scared of rejection to just call her up like a normal person.“]
Within hours of the interview, Selena dominated social media–claiming eight of the top ten trending topics.[]
She had transcended traditional celebrity status, becoming a cultural phenomenon overnight.[]
Countless stars had engineered fake relationships for publicity, but Selena was the first to ever admit it openly.[]
Instead of cancellation, her honesty earned her a whole new legion of fans.]
[Selena Hindlin just changed the game. Only real one in a fake industry.] [
[Imagine being gorgeous enough to land anyone but choosing to be a prop in someone else’s love story.] [
[Y’all missing the point–girl’s in a committed relationship with her CAREER.] [
Selena handed me a check with enough zeros to make me blink twice.[]
“You earned every penny. That PR strategy was genius,” she said, leaning against her desk. “Listen Kaylee, I’m ditching my management and launching my own production company. Come run communications for me.[]
“Word is my biggest competitor’s been sliding into your DMs with offers. Were you considering it?“]
I shook my head: “You gave me a lifeline when I was basically broke, paid me way above industry standard when you didn’t have to. That kind of loyalty matters.“]]
At the time, my previous employer had vanished with everyone’s money, leaving me with half a year of unpaid wages. I’d resorted to selling vintage clothes at weekend markets just to make rent when Selena’s offer came through, opening the door to an entirely new career path.

Chapter 12
Selena’s perfectly maintained expression cracked slightly, then reformed into a genuine smile.
“As much as I’d love to play the savior…” she leaned close, her voice dropping to a whisper, “Jax practically got on his knees begging me to hire you.“]
“Though keeping you around was entirely my call–you’re scary good at what you do,” Selena straightened up with a shrug. “Real talk? I’m starting to see exactly why that man is so completely gone for you.“[]
