Chapter 14
When Cyril woke up again, he was in the hospital. He’d suffered a severe concussion and had been unconscious for a week.[]
When he came to, he saw his mother looking worried, but her expression turned stern the moment she realized he was awake.[]
“Cyril, I always thought you had some principles, you weren’t like your bastard father. But…” His mother’s voice was filled with disappointment. “You’ve let me down completely.“[]
She continued scolding him, “I know all about what went down between you and Freda. You screwed her over, and you need to stop chasing after her. She’s never gonna forgive you.“[]
Cyril’s hand trembled under the covers, pain spreading through his chest. He shook his head forcefully. “No, I have to find her. I’ll make her forgive me and come back to me.“]
All those years of love couldn’t just disappear into nothing like this. He’d been wrong–he could admit that.[]
No matter the cost, he had to get Freda back.[]
“Mom, I’ll handle this myself.” With that, Cyril closed his eyes, unwilling to discuss it further.[]
His mother stayed with him for a while, but seeing she couldn’t persuade him, she got up to leave.[]
Cyril’s father had cheated years ago and died in a plane crash while trying to run away with his mistress. His mother had hated him for it and had raised Cyril to be faithful in relationships.
She’d once believed Cyril’s love for Freda was unique and would last forever.[]
She was done trying to persuade him–he wouldn’t listen anyway. She just hoped Freda wouldn’t be hurt by him again.[]
After his mother left, Cyril checked himself out of the hospital.]
He went to see Jolie with her investigation files. She’d been locked up for a week and looked haggard.[]
The moment she saw Cyril, she threw herself at him. “Cyril, baby! You came for me! Please get me out of here–I’m starving, and our little baby is too. Please, honey?“[]
She grabbed his hand and placed it on her belly, hoping he’d spare her for the sake of the child.
“Baby, please don’t be mad at me anymore, okay? I swear I never hurt Miss Freda before–I just went crazy for a minute and got jealous of her. I was so stupid. Please forgive me, I’m begging you. I’ll do whatever you want from now on.”

“Let’s go find Miss Freda together, okay? I’ll get on my knees and apologize to her. I’ll be the good girl, I promise.“[]
Jolie cried as she spoke. In the past, when she acted like this, Cyril would always soften and comfort her.
But now, he just kept a cold expression, looking at her with icy eyes as if she were already dead.
“Cut the bullshit, Jolie. The only reason you’re still breathing is because you once saved Freda.” Cyril grabbed her chin and shoved her away roughly.
“What are you gonna do? Cyril, I really know I screwed up. Please don’t hurt me–I’m still carrying your baby.” She stared at him in absolute terror, feeling like she could barely breathe.[]

Chapter 14
“Don’t worry. You won’t have that baby much longer.” Cyril released her, and she collapsed weakly to the ground, clutching her throat and gasping for air.
“No… no… please don’t do this to me.” Before Jolie could react further, she saw bodyguards entering with baseball bats, and she scrambled backward in sheer panic, trembling uncontrollably.[]
Jolie fought as they dragged her up, and Cyril grabbed a baseball bat and slammed it into her stomach.]
She screamed in agony, blood gushing between her legs, her face contorted in pain.[]
“Cyril Prescott, you’re fuucking insane! This is your kid too! You’re a damn monster!“]
He ignored her and swung the bat again, hitting harder this time. Her voice shook with pain. “Please, stop! It’s hurts! Let me go!“]
The third blow left her convulsing, too broken to beg anymore.[]
Cyril’s eyes filled with tear as he watched her bleed and writhe. His Freda must’ve hurt like this too.
“You guys keep going,” he snarled. “99 hits, then throw her in prison. Don’t let her die!” He tossed the bat and stormed off.[]
He clutched his chest as excruciating pain suddenly shot through his organs. He doubled over in agony, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth as he collapsed to the ground.[]
“Baby, where are you? I miss you so much. I can’t live without you.“]
