Chapter 9
Josie went to the police station alone.
She handed the recording over to the police, calmly completed the statement, and accused Jessica of inciting others to commit sexual assault.
The police officer looked at her disheveled hair and bruises on her arms, with a look of sympathy in his eyes.
“We will handle it according to the law.”
“Thank you.”
She returned home, poured herself a glass of hot water, and swallowed two painkillers.
The constant messages popping up on the phone were all about Adam rushing into the hospital with Jessica:
In the photo, he looked anxious, with his arms tightly wrapped around her as if she were a fragile treasure.
She turned off her phone, walked into the bathroom, and washed away the remaining bloodstains and mess from her body.
She would no longer hurt for him.
The next morning, Josie had just finished packing her final luggage and was getting ready to head to the airport when the front door was suddenly pushed open.
Adam pushed the door open, his suit jacket draped over his arm, his tie loose, and his eyes showing the fatigue of a sleepless night.
She was stunned for a moment.
How could he come back?
Wasn’t he supposed to be at the hospital with Jessica?
“Josie, he croaked, “Did you report what happened yesterday?“”
Josie instantly understood.
Originally, he came back for Jessica.
She nodded and said, “If I hadn’t run fast, I might have been violated by now.”
“The person who does something wrong always has to take responsibility, right?”
Adam frowned slightly, fell silent for a few seconds, and then said, “I understand, but she just finished swimming in the sea and her body is still very weak…..”
“So what? Josie interrupted softly, “Just because she jumped into the sea, I should let her go?“”
She stared into his eyes and said, “Didn’t you say you hated her? Then you should want her to be punished even more.
Adam was stunned for a moment, a hint of complex emotions flashing in his eyes.
“Yes, I hated her, his voice was hoarse, “but…”

But you loved her more.
Josie silently added in her mind.
Adam took a deep breath and suddenly changed his tone, “You withdraw the case.”
“Weren’t you thinking about getting married? he looked at her, his voice softening. “After you withdraw the case, we can get married, okay?“”
Josie’s eyes suddenly welled up with tears.
He clearly wanted to break up with her.
But now, for Jessica, he even said the word “marriage“.
She was about to tell him that she was going to marry someone else when Adam’s phone suddenly rang.
The nurse’s anxious voice came through the receiver: “Mr. Deantt, Ms. Meane has woken up and can’t see you smashing things again. Her emotions are very unstable…”
Adam furrowed his brow, hastily hung up the phone, grabbed his coat, and was about to leave.
“That’s it then, I have some things to take care of these days, he said without looking back. “We’ll discuss the wedding when I come back.
After speaking, he pushed the door open and left, not even giving her another glance.
Josie stood still, watching as his figure disappeared at the doorway.
Chapter 900
He was so sure that she loved him so much that as long as he proposed marriage, she would withdraw the case without hesitation?
Was he so sure that she would always be waiting for him there?
She slowly looked around the house that had once held all her expectations, her gaze settling on the coffee table.
There was still the ceramic cup that Adam had given her, with “Josie exclusive” engraved on the bottom.
She walked over, put the cup in the trash can, and then took out a sticky note from her bag, writing down a line of words –
Adam, as you wished, we broke up, you are free now.
The pen paused, and she added another sentence.
Wish you and Jessica a hundred years of happiness.
After writing, she stuck the sticky notes on the refrigerator, dragged the suitcase, and left without looking back.
On the way to the airport, my phone rang again.
It was a call from the police station.
“Ms. Hacitt, Mr. Deantt just called and said you have a desire to withdraw the case, is that true?”
Josie looked at the rapidly receding scenery outside the window and whispered, “No, I’m not withdrawing the case.”
She hung up the phone and turned off her mobile phone.
Chapter 2
At the moment the plane took off, she finally closed her eyes and let out a long sigh of relief.
Adam, this time, I really didn’t want you anymore.
