Chapter 4
When I woke up, I was surprised to find that there really was an opened pack of cold medicine on my nightstand.[]
I must have been delirious with fever last night and gotten up to take medicine in the middle of the night.[]
This wasn’t the first time.
Although this apartment was nominally shared between Evren and me, he was often busy coding and working on projects, frequently sleeping directly in the lab. Plus, he had a cleanliness obsession and found the place too big to clean easily, so he rarely came home.[]
When I was sick, I’d always dealt with it alone.[]
As soon as I got up, I received a call from the academic office urging me to submit my graduate study abroad application materials quickly.[]
I had already chosen the school I wanted to attend.[]
When I went to the department office to submit the documents, I happened to run into Liam, a senior from my department. He was very kind and offered to help me look over my application direction.[]
“If you’re really interested in this research topic, I recommend this European school. They’re really advanced in this area.
Of course, if you have plans to develop in Silicon Valley or apply to big tech companies in the future, then this American school has more resources.“]
As he spoke, he handed me a cup of hot coffee, his smile as warm as sunlight on snow.
“You’re quite the celebrity in our department, Sonia. Planning your thesis topic in advance and writing your entire graduation thesis in one go–you’re simply a genius.”
I stared at him in bewilderment.[]
Genius? Me?]
He nodded seriously, his tone unambiguous.[]
“Of course. Who doesn’t know you? Even the professors praise you in private.”
Liam, standing before me, I only really knew him as someone who was on the basketball team with Evren.[]
I occasionally went to watch Evren’s games and would always see the two of them going head–to–head, neither giving way to the other.[]
That tense, competitive atmosphere made the entire crowd excited.[]
I was still in a daze when I suddenly heard someone call my name from behind: “Sonia?“]
Turning around, I saw Linda standing with Evren at the end of the hallway, also holding documents probably here to submit applications too.[]
She was standing very close to Evren, closer than normal friends would stand.[]
Evren’s expression was calm, but his gaze was heavily focused on Liam and me.[]
He was carrying a familiar shopping bag–it clearly contained the limited edition blind box toys I’d mentioned repeatedly in our chat messages a few days ago. days
“What a coincidence,” Linda said with a smile, “I heard you had a cold. Are you feeling better?“]
Evren said nothing, just stared at me intently.
…..0
In that moment, I actually had the illusion.[]
Goodbye, My Genius Boyfriend
Chapter 4
He seemed… jealous.
There was once a basketball game where I went to cheer for Evren. Liam happened to be there too. When he saw me, he was particularly enthusiastic in greeting me and casually took my water bottle for a drink.
Evren just gave him a calm glance.[]
Then that game… Evren nailed every difficult three–pointer right in front of
That night, he almost single–handedly destroyed the entire opposing team.[]

After the game, he maintained his usual surface calm, just wiped his sweat and took the water bottle from my hands.
Then said casually: “Let’s go home.“[]
I thought he didn’t care.[]
But as soon as we got home, he pushed me onto the bed, and during that night’s lovemaking, he seemed particularly cold and dominant.[]
I couldn’t resist and ended up almost completely drained, like being swallowed by a tide.[]
Late at night, I leaned against the pillow, my fingers trembling slightly.[]
But he was still propped above me, quietly watching me, his black eyes unusually bright in the darkness.
Before I could ask why he was staring at me like that, he leaned down and gave me a slow, lingering kiss.]
After that, he methodically began round two.]
Before falling into exhausted sleep, I groggily asked: “Evren… are you actually a little bit… unhappy?”
He didn’t respond, silent as a dream.]
Just as I was about to fall asleep, I heard him say in a voice so low it was almost inaudible:
“…Mm.“]
I opened my mouth, about to call Evren’s name, when I saw him hand the blind box set to Linda beside him.
She immediately blushed bright red, asking in surprise: “Evren, is this for me?”
Evren hummed in acknowledgment and turned to walk away without hesitation, his back quickly disappearing from view.[]
The name I couldn’t call out was swallowed back.]
I smiled weakly at Liam.[]
How foolish of me to almost think again that Evren actually cared about me.
I submitted my prepared application to the academic office.[]
The administrative staff confirmed with me one last time: “Sonia, are you sure you won’t change it? Think carefully–applications cannot be withdrawn or changed.”
I nodded: “I’m sure, no changes.“]
