Chapter 17
I suddenly found it somewhat amusing.
With just a few words and a random photo, rumor–mongers could decide a person’s fate based on malicious speculation.
I paused, then said to Olivia.
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”
Benjamin and I were going to break up, but I didn’t want to bear these false accusations for no reason.
Just as I was about to post a clarification.
Olivia suddenly exclaimed, “Benjamin is something! I never thought he’d be so manly.”
I was stunned, then saw his post on Reddit.
“I’ve tracked the poster by IP address. Victoria, spreading rumors carries legal liability.”
He didn’t ask me any extra questions, choosing to believe me completely.
A sudden wave of sadness washed over me. Benjamin in this life hasn’t done anything wrong. Would doing this be too cruel to him?
That single sentence scared Victoria off completely.

She immediately posted an apology on campus Reddit, and the senior who recommended me for tutoring stepped up to clear my name.
Victoria became the target of public criticism.
The matter got resolved just like that. Olivia was in great spirits as she linked arms with me.
“Elizabeth, let’s go to class.”
Olivia and I majored in journalism.
But the moment we sat down, I overheard classmates behind us whispering.
“Did you hear? That finance genius Benjamin apparently switched majors.”
“Yeah, the dean of finance flew back from overseas just to talk him out of it, but couldn’t change his mind.”
“Still can’t understand why someone like Benjamin would go into medicine. It’s so tough.”
Medicine?
Hearing this, I jolted.
This completely diverged from my previous life’s timeline, where he’d always studied finance.
He was supposed to pursue a career in finance–why suddenly switch to clinical medicine?
The next instant, a news alert popped up on my laptop-

[XIE GROUP DONATES 1 BILLION FOR BONE CANCER RESEARCH!]
At that moment, I knew.
Knew Benjamin had also reincarnated.
Suddenly, the classroom buzzed with heated discussions.
“What’s going on? Benjamin just switched to medicine, aiming for orthopedics. Now the Xie Group donates a billion.”
“Could Benjamin be the heir to the Xie Group?”
“Oh my god, it’s true! Look–I spotted our young master in the Xie Group’s annual meeting photos.”
My breath caught in my throat.
Olivia was shaking my hand: “Did you know Benjamin is the youngest son of the Hayes Group?”
“Damn, he hid that way too well.”
“You’d be marrying into a wealthy family with him! Tell me honestly, do you regret breaking up with him yesterday?”
My thoughts were tangled, everything had veered off course beyond anything I’d imagined.
Just then, the classroom erupted.
Benjamin stood at the doorway, looking like he’d jogged here, his forehead slightly damp with sweat.

“Elizabeth. Out here,”
I lowered my head even more, desperately wanting no connection with him.
But under my classmates‘ burning stares, I had to go.
I’d just stepped outside when the professor arrived.
He said apologetically, “Thomas Green, sorry, I need to talk to Elizabeth about something.”
Thomas was a young female teacher, now looking at us with gossipy curiosity.
“Fine, make it quick.”
In the empty corridor, his intense gaze fixed on me.
