Chapter 7
Richard indeed was nice to Trista.
It seemed me and my baby were tools they used to spice things up between them.
Lying on the operating table, I laughed so hard till tears ran down my cheeks.
Who cared? Richard was no longer that man who loved me so much. He was now a complete jerk, and jerks should be ruined.
Trista continued to provoke me, but I closed my eyes, ignoring her.
Soon, both would pay for killing my baby.
After the heart transplant surgery, the first thing I did after getting out of bed was hold a grand funeral for my baby.
At the cemetery, I burned everything I had bought, including all the toys,
and picture books in the room I had prepared for him.
ed he knew I loved him more than anything.
Seeing how pitiful I cried, Richard’s friends all comforted me.
Even his mom said to me with red eyes, “You’re young, Lizzie, and the future is long. Just focus on taking care of yourself. You can still have as many kids as you want.”
I wiped my tears away and raised my head to look at their faces.

Then I couldn’t help but mock them silently for being total phonics.
They were there at the banquet, which meant they had already known the truth. Yet, they had been helping Richard by covering it up, keeping me in the dark as if I were a fool.
And now, their hypocritical consolation only sickened me.
I cried so sadly, which left Richard at a loss. He coaxed me, his voice soft, “Honey, cheer up. We’ll have another baby…”
Suddenly, I looked up, stared at him, and questioned him word by word, “So that Trista can be my baby’s mom?”
His expression changed drastically as he instinctively explained, “No! Lizzie, come on. It was just a joke.”
I looked at him, though my vision was blurred, remaining silent.
Sensing that I didn’t buy it, he slumped to the ground in front of my baby’s grave and said in a trembling voice, “Lizzie, don’t be like this. I swear I know I was wron
with Trista the second we go back!”
ng this, he slapped himself hard several times. Obviously, he sed great force, as I could see a trace of blood at the corner of his outh.
He thought I’d go soft and stop him from hurting himself.
But I continued to look at him, totally unfazed because it was only right that he atoned for his sins. In the end, his mom couldn’t bear to see
more and stopped him.
nat very night, he took me back to the gym.

Only now did I realize it wasn’t exactly a gym, in fact, it was one of hist hidden bases.
Those who didn’t know came here for exercises, whereas he conducted all kinds of nasty deals here.
No wonder Trista acted however she pleased here.
The last time, she beat me up at her will as if I were a punching bag.
This time, I ordered the bodyguards behind me to tie her up and hang her in mid–air. She screamed, “Richard, please, don’t do this to me…”
Richard glanced at her coldly and then gripped her neck fiercely, saying sternly, “Shut up! You hurt Lizzie; it’s only right that she makes things right for herself.”
He sounded so righteous as if he hadn’t participated in torturing me that day.
But I wasn’t surprised; after all, this was who he essentially was.
He was selfish, for the sake of himself, he could sacrifice everyone.
Seeing that he was totally unmoved, Trista begged me pitifully, “Ms. Cohen, I’m so sorry. Please spare me…”
I said flatly, “You didn’t spare me when I begged you that day.”
Her face turned utterly pale as her voice trailed off gradually.
Looking around, Richard signaled the bodyguards to step forward..
Yet, I said, “Wait.”
He turned to look at me, puzzled.
וד
When I put on the boxing gloves, his expression changed.
I walked over to Trista step by step and started to punch her ceaselessly while gritting my teeth.
At first, she screamed horribly; gradually, she fell silent.
Blood oozed out from the corner of her mouth, and she looked no
different from a corpse.
Looking at me, Richard looked hesitant.
I knew he couldn’t bear to watch and had been getting her the top doctor behind my back.
On the surface, he apologized to me while crying.
It seemed as if he were that devoted husband he once was.
But it was just a facade.
Her room was filled with supplements he sent, and she recorded it all and sent the video to me.
