Chapter 6
Looking at how righteous Darell was, I suddenly laughed.
This was my husband, a total liar, a murderer!
I picked up the knife on the ground and slashed my chest over a dozen times with all my might until my shirt was entirely soaked in blood.
Darell was shocked. “What are you doing, Violet? Stop it!”
Tossing the knife away, I looked at him, saying flatly, “Darell, you’re right. No mom should be hurt. So, I’m atoning for your beloved. Satisfied?”
With that, I turned to leave.
Looking at the blood on the ground and my figure stumbling away, Darell wanted to come over and help me, but Kara wrapped her arms around his neck.
She said, “Darell, it hurts so much. Can you take me to the hospital? You don’t want to starve Jimmy, right?”
Feeling torn for a moment, Darell finally chose to pick Kara up and walked in the opposite direction to mine.
After a few hours, he called me. “Violet, have
you dealt with your wounds? Don’t worry. I’ve already had the doctor apply ointment on Kara’s wound, and she can continue to breastfeed Jimmy. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that today.

breastfeeding Jimmy, and baby milk powder is not nutritious enough. We need Kara’s help. I take care of her to show her how grateful we are. Don’t take it to heart. It doesn’t mean anything.”
I said, my voice devoid of any emotion, “I’m fine. Take care of her. Don’t starve Jimmy.”
He smiled, “I knew it, Violet. You’re as understanding as always. Oh, and I’ve talked to Mom, too. She won’t give you a hard time again.
“You gave birth to my son, which is a big deal. We should celebrate. I’ll throw you a party the day after tomorrow, and I hope that can show you how sorry I am. Wait for me, OK?”
The local news played all night about how much the CEO of the Bourn Group cared about his beloved. He invited dozens of top experts from across the country overnight by helicopters just to treat a minor wound of hers.
Watching the news, I used some iodine and hemostatic medicine to treat my wounds simply.
The next day, Darell was still nowhere to be seen. I packed up
and donated them.

Our marriage certificate, which I used to cherish so much, was torn into pieces by me. Then I tossed it into the trash can.
At noon on the third day, Darell texted me on WhatsApp, “Violet, I’m done dealing with work. I’ll go over to the hotel to oversee them set up the scene, and my assistant will come and pick you up in the afternoon.”
But in fact, he was shopping at high–end jewelry stores in a mall, holding Kara’s hand with one hand while holding Jiminy in his arms with his other hand.

All the shop assistants envied them and congratulated them.
One of them couldn’t help but sigh, “Mr. Bourn loves Mrs. Bourn and their baby boy so much. My sales target for the next twenty years is achieved after today. What a beautiful family of three.”
Another was puzzled. “But I heard Mr. Bourn had booked the cheapest banquet hall at a hotel to celebrate Mrs. Bourn giving birth.”
Someone else retorted at once, “You must be mistaken. Didn’t you see how much Mr. Bourn had spent on Mrs. Bourn? Why would he book the cheapest banquet hall? Besides, if you didn’t notice the necklace around her neck–Mr. Bourn auctioned it off for her this morning. It’s worth ten hotels.”
I had just bought a suitcase upstairs and saw everything.
Instead of replying to Darell, I arranged for a same–city courier service, and the divorce agreement as well as a couple of documents would be sent to the banquet venue later.
After doing all this, I put on my sunglasses and headed off to the airport.
A few hours later, Darell finally finished shopping, and he took Kara and Jimmy to the hotel.
Yet, he was told I hadn’t shown up.
He checked the time and found it had been an hour since the time he had told me to show up. Feeling odd, he wondered why because I had never been late to our appointments.
Just as he was about to call me, his assistant ran toward him and said hastily, “Mr. Bourn, bad news. Mrs. Bourn is missing. And someone has just dropped these off.”
Darell widened his eyes in great disbelief as he saw the divorce. agreement.
He thought, “Violet wants a divorce?
“No way!”
