Chapter 8
“You were nice enough to throw Violet a party, but what did she do? She failed you totally. She knew you cared about me the most, but she still wanted to hurt me before. A vile woman like her would never be good to Jimmy. Since she’s divorced you, don’t humor her anymore. Darell, I’m the only one who really loves you and wants you to be happy. Let’s start over, OK?” Kara said shyly.
In the past, whenever Darell saw her like this, he’d always get soft–hearted and want her to have the best things in the world.
Yet, hearing her smear Violet now, he was suddenly disgusted.
His gaze fell on the necklace around her neck, and the words the shop assistant said today echoed in his mind, making his heartache.
He had given Kara so much; each piece of her jewelry was worth a hotel.
But had he ever given Violet anything?
Looking around, he realized how plain and shabby the decoration was, which made him feel so ashamed.
After enjoying all the glory, Kara didn’t feel guilty toward Violet at all; instead, she belittled Violet complacently.
He pulled back his hand and said coldly, “Kara, I’m only saying this to you once. Whether you’re divorced or not, Violet will be my only wife till the day I die.
“You call her vicious? After learning the truth, she has never harmed Jimmy.

“And how come I lost control after just a drink with you back then? You and I both know what you put into the wine. It wasn’t an accident.
“You and I are done. Leave. From now on, we shouldn’t contact each other anymore. I’ll have my mom taking care of Jimmy.”
With a bloodless face, Kara looked at Regina for help. Just as Regina was about to say something, Darell said coldly, beating her to it, “Mom, you have a grandkid now, so stop pushing me. I’m your son, and you know exactly what will happen if I’m cornered.”
With that, he left quickly with his assistant, no longer caring about. anyone present.
On the way back, he kept calling Violet non–stop, only to learn she had turned off her phone.
She had even blocked him on WhatsApp, too.
When he arrived home, his heart sank completely. All of Violet’s stuff was gone.
The only thing she left was the marriage certificate in the trash can; it was in pieces now
He still remembered the day they registered their marriage. Violet was so over the
moon that she beamed, holding the marriage certificate in her arms as if it were the most precious treasure in the world.
He ordered at once, “Find out where Violet is. Check everywhere–roads, trains, planes, and ships–all of them!
“Also, why did Kara get a divorce? What happened between Kara and Violet at the door of the Bourn’s mansion that day? Get to the bottom of all of this!”
Chapter 8
Seeing his bloodshot eyes, his assistant was so frightened that he didn’t dare to utter a word. Nodding ceaselessly, he went on it.
Darell slumped to the floor as he gazed at the empty place.
In the past, he always found Violet nagging after she got pregnant. She kept texting him every day, and back then, he was busy taking care of Kara. At most, he’d reply to Violet once a few days.
Yet now, he wished Violet would be a bit more nagging and talk to him a bit more. He’d never brush her off again.
He missed her voice so much, and he kept scrolling through their chat history and listening to her voice messages.
“Darell, the doctor hinted at me today that we’re going to have a baby boy. But I like daughters better. Well… I guess it’s fine. The future is long, and we’ll have a daughter. She’ll be protected by her older brother.”
“Darell, the baby kicked me today. He’s so naughty. Are you still busy? If you have some free time, can you call me? It doesn’t have to be long. Half a minute will do.”
Finally, it dawned on Darell that those voice messages represented how much Violet missed him.
But it was too late.
Kneeling on the floor, he carefully picked up the torn marriage certificate from the trash can. Holding them in his arms, he cried hard.
Soon, his assistant got back to him. “Mr. Bourn, all I’ve found out is Mrs. Bourn took a flight to a city in Canada. I haven’t been able to find out more, which is probably because she has hidden her tracks on purpose. She has barely used her ID card. I’m still looking into it.
Chapter 8
“As for the reason why Ms. Motley had a divorce and the thing that happened at the Bourn’s mansion… I’ve sent the details to your email.”
Darell read through the email quietly.
Just then, the doorbell rang. It was Kara.
Upon entering the door, she wrapped her arms around Darell’s waist and said in a broken voice, “Darell, I miss you so much. And I miss Jimmy, too. Can I see him?
know it’s a lot for you to take that Violet suddenly divorced you. It must have hurt your pride. But it’s fine. I love you so much, and I’ll wait for you.”
