Chapter 10%
“What a waste of money. Everyone did great, but I honestly don’t know who to give it to!”
Grandpa was the first to stand up.
“I’m the head of this family. Give access to me first. My word is final!”
“To hell with you, you fossil!” Brody snapped. “Who said you’re the head of the family? Zadie, give it to me! I’m your twin–we’re the closest!”
“Bullshit!” Mom shouted. “I’m your mother. I gave birth to you. Without me, you wouldn’t even be alive! Of course you should open it for me first–l still need to buy gold!“}
Before I could say a word, they were already shouting over one another, the argument escalating into a full–blown fight. No one cared about family ties anymore.
Who would’ve thought that the once–united family would turn on each other over something as petty as a shared funds account?}
I asked Tabitha to call a doctor to treat Valeraine and Killian, who had been injured earlier.
Their injuries didn’t stop my family from fighting though–everyone just kept going, completely out of control.
I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the ridiculous scene.
“Enough! Stop fighting!” I said, still chuckling. “I’m not opening my account for any of you anyway!“}]
They froze, realizing I’d played them. A few of them looked like they were about to lunge at me.}]
But I wasn’t alone—had a group of badass friends, and my family had already seen what these women were capable of. No one dared to make a move.}
As they stormed off, furious and humiliated, Flora hung up a call and turned to me.
“While they were busy fighting, I had the locks on your villa changed. They can’t get in anymore. I also notified the restaurant and hotel chains you mentioned? Those parasites‘ memberships have been flagged; staff won’t let them in either!“}]
“Perfect! Now help me contact an agent. I’m selling off the rest of my properties. I’ll transfer to one of our company’s branches abroad. Oh, and please find me more bodyguards–those parasites only beat the weak.”
“Got it. Don’t worry. We’ve all got your back–this revenge is a group effort!“}
With that, I finally relaxed and focused on recovering.
Of course, my family tried to come after me a few times, but with bodyguards around, they couldn’t get close.”
Once my health had fully recovered and all my properties in Nevada were sold, I moved to Germany and swiftly built a new life there from the ground up.
As for Killian, he suffered a serious brain injury and ended up in a coma. I deliberately hired the meanest nurse I could find to take care of him.
The nurse actually liked
me
and kept me updated. In every video call, Killian looked thinner and more lifeless. In the last one before he died, he was nothing but skin and bones.
Free from my toxic family and the mess they left behind, I began to thrive. I was happier than I’d ever been–so much so that I nearly forgot all about them.>
Until one day, I had to return to Nevada for a promotion.
While out and about, I happened to see a few familiar figures–skin and bones, scavenging through trash.”
I rolled down the car window, pulled out a bag of dog treats, and tossed it their way.
They scrambled over each other to grab it.
The first to recognize me was my mother.”
“Zadie! Zadie! I was wrong! Can you-?“}
Before she could finish her sentence, my car window was already rolling up.
The rest of them tried to chase the car, but they couldn’t keep up.
Watching their reflections shrink in my rearview mirror, I felt a deep, satisfying joy.”
‘This is my payback. Never again will anyone bleed me dry. I’m going to live my life for me!‘
