Chapter 1
I’d been married and divorced eight times.
But on the eighth, I refused to sign the divorce papers–no matter what.
Justin Harrison’s maid left behind a letter and ran off in tears after being accused of being a mistress. She was trafficked to a remote mountain village. By the time she was found, she had been badly hurt.
That same night, Justin didn’t come home. He stayed at his office.
From then on, he never looked at me again.
A few days later, my family’s pharmaceutical business collapsed. My father jumped from the top of the company building and died instantly. My grandmother had a brain bleed and ended up in a coma. I had no idea if she would make it.
And me? Justin sold me off to an illegal lab where they used me for experiments. I didn’t survive the torture.
The day he sold me, he looked me in the eye with cold indifference.
“Lillian Armstrong, don’t stare at me like that. When you sold Eliza to the village, you should’ve seen this coming.
“If it weren’t for you, she’d have given birth to my child by now.”
When I opened my eyes again, I was right back at my eighth divorce.
This time, I didn’t resist. I just said yes.
Afterward, I took a letter tucked in the corner of the study. Then, I sent a

“Abel, let’s get married!”

“Lillian, I swear this is the last divorce.”
Hearing the familiar voice, I looked up.
When I stayed quiet, Justin got more nervous and started explaining.
“Honey, I know you’re the most generous and understanding. You’ve been through seven divorces without making a fuss.
“You’re not gonna give me trouble this time, are you?”
I gave him a relaxed smile. “Of course not.”
Seeing me act so obedient, Justin looked completely at ease.
Once he walked out, I quietly followed behind him. He ended up in a fancy neighborhood. Not long after, someone I knew stepped out.
She used to work as a maid in my house. Now, she was running straight into Justin’s arms. Her belly was showing–probably four or five months
expectant.
“Justin, did she finally say yes to the divorce?
“People can call me a mistress all they want, but I don’t want our baby to be labeled an illegitimate child.”
Justin kissed her lips gently.
“Relax. She said yes already. She’s always been pathetic. She never says
no to me.

“She’s agreed seven times before. She won’t refuse.”
I sat in my car, gripping the steering wheel tightly.
So, all those painful divorces were because of the maid.

I remembered what happened two years ago. Justin showed up with Eliza Quinn–plain–looking and kind of
untry. He acted genuinely.
“Lillian, Eliza came from nothing. Her family is broke, and she never had the opportunity to attend school. She only knows basic work.
“Please be nice and give her a job. Let her stay on as a maid.”
I agreed because I felt bad for her, not realizing I was letting trouble walk right into my life.
Their voices echoed again.
“Justin, did Ms. Armstrong take her meds today?
“I’m sorry. I get too jealous and scared sometimes. I just feel like if she gets expecting, you’ll leave me.”
Eliza’s eyes welled up, and she looked pitiful
Justin instantly started reassuring her
“Eliza, what are you saying? The only child that matters is yours. None of the others mean anything.
“I’ve already fed her the pills. I’m not letting her have a baby.”
I froze, and a chill ran through me.
I used to think there was something wrong with my body to never get expecting. But it was all Justin’s plan.
