He hung up and felt troubled by the whole situation.
A few minutes later, his phone rang.

Jack was so taken aback by how quickly Samuel answered the call that he could not wrap his head around it. He fell silent.
“Speak up!” Samuel growled.
“Mrs. Gardner’s brother isn’t in the hospital,” Jack quickly said.
Samuel’s phone fell on the floor, and the screen cracked.
“Find them!” he roared as he picked it up again.
Samuel ran out with his car keys in hand.
He drove madly around the city and searched through all the places he could think of, but Dawn was nowhere to be found.
The sun rose in the morning, and he sat down glumly on the floor of the place Dawn had once rented.
He never expected her to leave without a word. He could not believe he could find no trace of her.
In his daze, he returned to the villa and sat in front of Dawn’s vanity as his mind wandered.
Suddenly, he noticed a notebook in a corner.
Curious, he picked it up. It was Dawn’s diary.
