Gabriel’s face showed a flash of annoyance.
I clutched the blanket, looking at him with feigned disappointment: “You better go. If Grandfather’s calling, it must be important!
Gabriel redressed, kissed me reassuringly on the cheek, and left with a simple “Wait
The moment he left, I let out a deep sigh of relief.
Just then, my phone lit up with a shipping notification.
The items I’d purchased that afternoon were being shipped discreetly.
for me.”
I quickly deleted the purchase history and shipping information. As I was about to close my phone, I received an Instagram friend
request.
“This is Reed.”
Just those three simple words, exactly like the man himself.
I immediately accepted and replied: “Good evening, Reed!”
I waited a while but received no response from Reed. Eventually, I drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, a maid informed me that Gabriel had been summoned to the family estate overnight–apparently there was a major issue with the Bay Area project he was managing.
I casually brushed my hair and descended the stairs unhurriedly.
Reed sat at the head of the dining table.
In front of him lay a slice of toasted bread, a cup of freshly ground black coffee, and the latest financial newspaper.
“Good morning, Reed!”
I greeted him familiarly and took my seat to his left.
Reed set down his newspaper, his sharp eyes flicking toward me. His gaze lingered on my plump, berry–like red lips.
Using the action of drinking coffee to mask his reaction, his Adam’s apple bobbed once before he asked casually:
“Your school’s on break, right? Any plans for today?”
“I’m meeting my bestie to go shopping!”
“I’ll drive you,” he offered.
I was taken aback: “That’s not necessary. You’re so busy–the driver can take me!”
Reed simply stated: “It’s decided,” effectively cutting off any further objections.
Once in the car, the driver tactfully raised the partition.
Reed balanced his laptop on his knees, his long, elegant fingers flying across the keyboard.
Yet he still managed to ask without looking up: “How long have you been with Gabriel?”

Chapter 6
I froze momentarily, eventually realizing he was speaking to me.
“O–One year!”
For some reason, talking with Reed made me nervous.
Especially when I inadvertently glanced at his nimble fingers.
I recalled how those same hands had explored my body that night.
“Only a year? No wonder…” Reed seemed to muse.
Huh?
No wonder what? No wonder what exactly?
No wonder I didn’t recognize him that night?
It seemed he didn’t know I was reborn. Of course, until I was certain of my value to him, I wouldn’t easily reveal my secret.
With this in mind, I simply looked at him bewildered: “What did you say, Reed?”
