The moment Henry heard I had a gift for him, his eyes filled with suspicion.
He must’ve had some self–awareness— he knew how much I hated him. Why would I ever give him a gift?
Before he could refuse, a short–haired woman stepped out from the crowd that had gathered to watch the drama.
The instant Henry saw her, his face turned pale. “Lynn!” he blurted out.
Lynn took a drag from her cigarette, her gaze bold and unapologetic as it swept across Henry’s face.
“Long time no see, ex–boyfriend,” she said. “Looks like life’s been treating you
well. So, are you still planning to marry
me after you inherit the Zach family

My parents‘ eyes widened as they turned to Henry in shock.
Henry shook his head quickly. “Mom, Dad, don’t listen to her! Have you forgotten? Back then, she was the one who couldn’t have Chase and sent those thugs after him.
“That’s why I was crippled for years… why I was so depressed…”
He turned to glare at me. “It was you, wasn’t it? You brought that venomous woman here?
“Why? Haven’t I suffered enough? Why would you do this to me?
“Do you enjoy making me relive the trauma–being beaten, being ruined?”
Linda looked at me with disappointment. “How could you be so

cruel?”
My dad snapped, “You animal! You’re nothing but a beast!”
I stared at Henry with no expression. “Even now, you’re still trying to smear me?”
Lynn cut in, “We’ll see who’s lying when we get to the police station.”
Sirens wailed in the distance.
I saw Henry trembling. From the looks on their faces, Linda and my parents were beginning to realize something was off.
In the end, the police took Henry and Lynn away. Naturally, my parents and Linda followed.
Before getting into the car, Linda gave me a long, hard look–full of
disappointment and fury.
I ignored her. Soon enough, she’d be looking at Henry the same way.
I walked to the curb to hail a cab, but Susie pulled up and parked in front of
- me.
I blinked in surprise. “You’re still here?”
Susie said, “I was worried about you. Your body hasn’t fully recovered. Get in. I’ll take you home.”
Home. The word hit me hard. I didn’t have a home anymore.
But I still got in the car and gave her the name of a hotel.
Susie raised her eyebrows. “Seriously, you didn’t even ask for a house in the divorce?”
I admitted, “Planning to start over in another city. Just took ten million.”
When we got to the hotel, I thanked her and checked into a suite for a month.
For the next few days, I did nothing but eat and sleep. Once my body had fully recovered, I started planning my new life.
Two weeks later, a post suddenly went viral online.
It was about an old case from years ago.
One night, Henry had insisted on dragging his girlfriend Lynn into an alley for some “fun.” Lynn refused, and as they struggled, a group of thugs saw them.
One of the thugs happened to be Lynn’s
- ex.
He thought Henry was assaulting her.
Enraged, he and the others beat Henry nearly to death.
Lynn tried to stop them. She tried to explain. But no one listened.
That night, Henry didn’t just lose the use of his legs–he also suffered irreversible damage elsewhere.
Afterward, Lynn wanted to report it.
But Henry stopped her.
He was already ruined. Punishing those guys wasn’t enough. He wanted to use what happened to plan his comeback.
That’s when he set his sights on Chase- his kind–hearted, well–off childhood friend.
Henry had always been jealous of Chase, but played nice because of Chase’s
generosity.
Now, he wanted to replace him.

He knew Chase’s parents cared deeply about their reputation. They’d never tolerate even a speck of scandal.
So the moment Chase had a stain on his record, they’d toss him aside.
Henry promised Lynn that if she helped him frame Chase, he’d marry her once he got his hands on the Zach family fortune.
Blinded by greed, Lynn agreed to be his
weapon.
In court, she claimed she liked Chase, but he rejected her and humiliated her. Pushed to the edge, she hired men to
get revenge.
But Chase shoved her at them and ran
away.
The case made national headlines.
The Zach family, desperate to compensate Henry, hired top lawyers and dug up more crimes committed by those thugs. They were all convicted on multiple charges and sent to prison.
Lynn, discovered to be pregnant before sentencing, was given probation.
Once she gave birth, she was locked up.
But after going to prison, Henry never visited her again. Her love turned to hatred, and the moment she got out, she set her sights on revenge.
Now, after all these years, the truth had finally come to light.
Henry–the mastermind–was facing prison.
The trap he so carefully laid had finally closed in on him.
The final lines of the post read:
“The saddest part is, it’s been eleven years. The kind and innocent Chase was thrown out by his parents and abandoned by his wife and daughter.
“They never knew how many therapists. he’d seen in those years of rejection.
“They never saw the scars on his wrist, so deep that hand is nearly useless–he can’t even drive anymore.
“They never noticed he still takes antidepressants to this day. Not once in ten years.”
And I…
I stared blankly at those final lines, tears streaming down my face before I even realized it.
