Chapter 7
ma’s pale cheek quickly reddened. She looked at Leon helplessly. “Leon, did I say something wrong
Inexpectedly, Leon didn’t show the heartache she hoped for, but nodded with slight displeasure. “Julia just lost a child. How could she bear to hear
you say that?”
Emma was stunned, her watery eyes immediately filling with tears. “Leon! I’m sorry, I didn’t think… I just, I just…”
She choked up, covering her face as she ran away, but hadn’t gone far when she cried out and fell to the ground.
Getting up, she pointed at Mia standing nearby, “You, you…”
Mia said irritably, “Point what point, you what you? Don’t you have eyes? You ran into my foot!”
Einma’s face turned pale, then flushed red. She stamped her foot and ran into the CEO’s office.
Leon’s expression darkened. “Mia, what business is this of yours? No matter what Emma did, she’s my secretary. As my subordinate, what right do you have to yell at her?”
Mia rolled her eyes dramatically. “Oh, so she’s just your secretary? I thought she was the Luna! I never imagined you’d be such a scumbag to Julia despite your decent appearance. Three years ago when Julia won that case, how many law firms offered her positions? And you you got her to join the company with sweet words, convinced her to marry you, and this is the result? Who wants to be your subordinate? I’m going to submit my resignation right now. I quit!”
She ripped off her employee badge, slapped it against Leon, and stormed off angrily.
The air fell silent.
Leon clenched his fists, his eyes dark
Suddenly, his eyes reddened, and he asked me in a trembling voice, “Julia, do you really want to break our mate bond?
There was a hint of pleading in his eyes, as if he would shatter if I nodded.
Before I could answer, he stopped me from speaking, “I know you don’t really want to leave. Otherwise you wouldn’t have brought a man here to test my reaction.”
I looked at him like he was an idiot.
Callum walked up to him and handed him a business card: “You seem to have misunderstood. I’m the lawyer Julia hired.”
Leon took the card and tore it un with a cold laugh “Just a lawyer. So what
Callum smiled slightly. It means you’re definitely going to lose this case.
Leon’s face immediately darkened. “I won’t agree to break the mate bond. I’m her mate–1 have the final say about breaking the mate bond!”
Callum said calmly, “It seems Alpha Leon doesn’t understand the law very well. But that’s okay–you’ll understand everything once we’re in court. Soon, you’ll go from being a mate to an ex–mate.”
This statement made Leon completely lose his rationality. He cursed and swung his list at Callum.
I had noticed his movement early and blocked Callum.
Leon’s eyes flashed with shock as he barely stopped his hand, his voice strained. “How could you…
His eyes were filled with disbelief.
He couldn’t believe I would throw myself in front of another man the way I once had for him.
A year into our marriage, I accompanied Leon to inspect a building under construction by their company.
A mentally unstable worker approached us, bowed respectfully to Leon, then suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed toward him.

In that split second, I came to my senses standing in front of Leon with the sharp blade piercing my abdomen, blood soaking through my dress.
Leon was terrified. In the ambulance, he gripped my hand, crying incoherently, begging me to stay conscious and not close my eyes.
At the hospital, we learned I had been one month pregnant.
Leon was devastated, unable to sleep all night. I comforted him, saying the baby had protected daddy.
So when I got pregnant the second time, my first thought was that our thoughtful baby had come back to us.
But this sweet, well–behaved little one never even opened their eyes, never had a sip of milk, never felt sunshine, and was gone.
My protective gesture toward Callum triggered Leon.
He stared at my face, his handsome features somewhat twisted, speaking without thinking, “What exactly is he to you? Why are you protecting him like this? The child just died, and you’re already eager to climb into another man’s bed?”
He expected me to tremble with anger at his vicious verbal attack as I had before.
But I only looked at him with pity. “Leon, you really are a piece of trash.”
