Chapter 10
Carl stood still and stared at his phone for a long time, unable to digest
the fact.
Jasmine used to love him so much, how could she bear to block him.
Carl couldn’t believe it as he glanced at the screen again. The red exclamation mark was still there, so real that he had to believe that Jasmine had really left.
But he had already said before that he would give her a child after Whitney’s matter was settled, so why did she still choose to leave?
Carl couldn’t understand.
But then he realized that he and Jasmine were not divorced yet, and immediately his tense nerves relaxed.
No matter where she escaped to, she was still his lawful wife.
Most of America’s marriage laws were designed to protect the interests. of men, so as long as they are still married, he has countless ways to force her to come back.
But after all, the two families were once prominent, and Carl didn’t want to break ties.
He then called his grandfather, originally intending for his grandfather to pressure Jasmine and make her come back obediently.
But little did anyone know, as soon as Grandfather answered the
phone, he angrily shouted at him, “Jasmine has been gone for so long. and you only just realized it now? We’ve been married for a whole five years, have you ever shown her any kindness?”
Carl was momentarily stunned, his voice sounding somewhat incredulous, “Could it be that I treated her poorly?”
Although he had no sexual relationship with Jasmine, he knew that he was the one who proposed to Jasmine first. Therefore, he never mistreated Jasmine in terms of material things. As long as Jasmine asked for something, he would buy it for her.
Married for five years, she never spoke up once.
Grandpa was laughed at by Carl’s shamelessness. “Do you treat Jasmine well? Have you spent a New Year’s eve with her in the past. five years? Is your department so busy? Is the whole hospital scheduled for you alone? Alright, Jasmine has already divorced you, I won’t care about your affairs anymore. Do whatever you want to do.”
Carl keenly caught the keywords and smiled confidently, “Divorce? Grandfather, I have never said that I want to divorce Jasmine. Besides, divorce requires my signature, and if I don’t sign, how could she possibly get a divorce?”
Grandfather was speechless. “When someone loved you, you didn’t cherish it. Now that they’re gone, you’re clinging onto them. What exactly do you want to do?”
He couldn’t even say what he wanted to do.
He only knew that Jasmine married him and became his wife.
Even if it meant death, she would die by his side.
Chapter 10
Carl had just thought of something when suddenly an unfamiliar number called in. He answered the call and said, “Hello, Mr. Sinclair, your divorce case with Miss Jasmine has already gone to court. When would it be convenient for you to come to the scene?”
A trace of surprise flickered in his eyes, “What divorce lawsuit? Jasmine and I haven’t divorced yet.”
“Six days ago, Jasmine entrusted our lawyer to help with the divorce. lawsuit and provided your divorce agreement, which bears your signature in black and white. If Mr. Sinclair refuses to acknowledge it, then we will have to proceed according to the legal process and let the judge make the decision.”
Carl sneered, “I never remember signing any agreement, forging a divorce agreement is illegal.”
After saying that, he froze completely.
He suddenly remembered six days ago, when Jasmine came to Whitney’s ward to ask him to sign.
And he signed without even looking.
At that moment, Carl was in a panic. “Where is Jasmine? The agreement was signed without my knowledge and has no legal effect.”
The lawyer couldn’t stand Carl at all. “If everyone acted unreasonably like Mr. Sinclair, using ‘I don’t know‘ as an excuse to absolve all responsibility, then justice would no longer be necessary in the legal- system. In that case, we can only proceed according to the established procedures.”
The next second, the lawyer hung up the phone.
