Chapter 11
Aurelian was consumed by crushing pain. Every time he closed his eyes, Celia’s last words echoed in his mind.
“My surprise for you is here.”
He held her ashes close to his chest, repeating “I’m sorry” countless times.
But no amount of apologies could bring Celia back.
Only alcohol could numb him enough to sleep briefly, though he’d always wake up from nightmares.
When the doorbell rang, Aurelian didn’t move.
After a long while, the door opened.
Backlit by the light, he couldn’t make out who it was clearly.
But the silhouette looked familiar–like Celia’s shape.
“Aurelian.”
When Raya’s voice rang out, Aurelian’s head dropped in disappointment. He grabbed the wine glass from the coffee table and hurled it at her.
CRASH!
The moment Raya stepped through the door, a glass flew past her, shattering at her feet. An angry voice roared out:
“Get out! All of you get the hell out!”
Raya froze, but carefully stepped around the glass fragments and came inside.
It had only been a few days, but she barely recognized the man in front of her.
His face was haggard, with streaks of gray already showing in his hair. He’d aged years in just days.
“Aurelian.”
His gaze finally shifted from Celia’s urn to focus on Raya’s face.
“Aurelian, what’s wrong? Did something happen?”
After Silas came home, his attitude toward her had completely changed. He wouldn’t even respond to their parents and had moved out. Raya had been trying to figure out what went wrong.
“Get out! I never want to see you again.”
The sight of Raya made Aurelian think that if he’d just been stronger back then, if he’d told Celia the truth directly, maybe things would have turned out differently.
It was all because of Raya, because of the Fairborne family–they’d killed Celia.
“Aurelian, I’ve been missing you so much lately, I…”
She slowly approached him, talking about how much she’d missed him, completely oblivious to his darkening expression.
Suddenly, she spotted the death certificate on the table.

Chapter 11
Celia’s name jumped out at her.
For an instant, unmistakable joy flashed across Raya’s face before she quickly switched to sorrow.
“Aurelian, I know you’re heartbroken about Celia leaving us, but she’s gone now. Making yourself suffer like this would only make her sad too.”
Her hand touched his arm, her voice gentle. “It’s okay, Aurelian. You still have me. I’ll always be here for you.”
SMACK!
The next second, Aurelian’s palm struck Raya hard across the face.
Raya clutched her cheek, staring at him in disbelief.
In her mind, Aurelian had always been gentle and refined. These past few years, she’d enjoyed his devoted care.
She’d practically started thinking of him as her fiancé.
Before she could say anything else, Aurelian’s hand wrapped around her throat.
The terror of suffocation made her struggle desperately, pleading for mercy.
Just when she thought he was going to strangle her, Aurelian released his grip, his voice cold and emotionless.
“Get out.”
Raya didn’t dare say another word and fled quickly.
With her gone, the villa plunged back into darkness.
His phone rang again.
T
“Hello, Mr. Graves. According to Miss Fairborne’s final wishes, she wanted to be properly buried. When would you like to hold the funeral for Miss
Fairborne?”
Another call from the cemetery management–Aurelian had received many of these lately, but he’d always hung up immediately.
But thinking about Raya’s expression just now, Aurelian asked, “When did Celia reserve the burial plot?”
When the manager gave him the date, Aurelian quickly realized it was the same day they’d been tormenting her as usual–the anniversary of her parents‘ and “Mireya’s” deaths.
But hadn’t Raya said that day that Celia wanted to destroy their graves?
Thinking about this, a realization began forming in his mind.
Aurelian’s voice was hoarse. “She said she wanted to purchase a burial plot, not destroy graves, right?”
After getting confirmation from the staff member, Aurelian’s breathing stopped,
All his memories from recent days began spinning wildly in his mind, everything taking on a different meaning.
If this was a lie, then… what about everything else?
What was the real truth about the house fire, about falling from the yacht?
At the hospital that day, was it really Celia who pushed Raya from the window?
No… it was all wrong!

Chapter 11
If Celia had known she was dying of cancer, why would she still go after Raya?
Aurelian suddenly remembered the flash drive that had been with the medical report.
He’d never opened it.
But now, holding it, he suddenly felt like all these questions would be answered by what was on this drive.
Aurelian inserted the flash drive into his computer. Looking at everything organized on it, his eyes widened in disbelief.
Unable to control his emotions anymore, he grabbed the flash drive and headed straight to the Fairborne house.
