Chapter 8
Conan’s eyes turned red at once. His lips shook as he stared at me and said, “Ingrid, I’m still your husband. Why did you hit me because of an outsider?”
My eyes remained calm.
“Didn’t you hear what Mindy just said earlier? It’s true that I like Andy. So, I’m not letting you lay another finger on him!”
Conan’s reaction was a lot bigger than anyone expected when he heard me. “You’re lying! I know your daily schedule like the back of my hand. You’re only saying all this to make me mad!
“Ingrid Zinger, when are you finally going to stop acting out like this? I-”
He suddenly saw my hand intertwined with Andy’s, and his furious outburst suddenly died down as he couldn’t make another sound.
He just couldn’t understand it. I was so in love with him, and I’d done even stupider things for him–but how could I shamelessly be so intimate with another man right under his nose?
Mindy’s eyes were filled with glee that she couldn’t even hide away anymore. She mimicked my actions and also slid her hand into Conan’s hand, about to say something, when Conan suddenly shoved her to the ground mercilessly.
He ignored the tears swirling in Mindy’s eyes as he stood frozen to his spot, glaring at me as his disappointment grew.
After what seemed like forever, he suddenly said to me, “Ingrid, I finally understand what you’ve been feeling in the past. I promise I’ll make it up to you for the rest of my life. Let’s go home together, shall we?”
When I heard what he said, I felt as though I’d heard the most pathetic joke of the universe. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing out loud.
“Conan Grande, if I still haven’t received your signed copy of the divorce agreement by tomorrow, I will be hiring a lawyer and taking you to court.”
With that, I held Andy’s hand and returned to the cafe with Eva to continue with our tea.
I had only dared to hold Andy’s hand in public without fear because he had confessed his feelings to me a few days prior. It was just that I hadn’t exactly agreed to accept his years of love and devotion for me yet.
But now that I’d accidentally gotten him involved, I decided to apologize sincerely to him even though I knew that he wouldn’t have gotten mad at me or blamed me for anything. Still, I had to do something.
Andy just scratched his nose rather awkwardly and accepted my apology. Then, he invited me to visit a gallery the next weekend.
As for Conan and Mindy, who would probably still be on the ground if Conan never pulled her up, nobody bothered to find out exactly when they’d both left.
I never got the signed divorce agreement from Conan the next day. So, I decided not to delay it anymore and told Samantha to file for divorce on my behalf.

Everyone who saw him pretended that they didn’t. However, my parents‘ elderly neighbor, Bobby Frost, soon found out that Conan had passed out on the way to the only convenience store in the village.
Conan suffered from a high fever. My parents then checked on him every half hour, even after feeding him meds.
My family background was too vastly different from Conan’s. If it hadn’t been for me being so stupidly in love with him back then, parents would never even have agreed to our marriage in the first place.
