Chapter 25
Marissa held up the file, glanced at Keaton and Raelynn, and finally
stared at Chet.
The whole story is clearly written here, why did you lie to me?
“And you, Chet, you said you would tell me the truth, but why did you choose to hide it from me?”
Chet’s face turned pale and he began to tremble.
Mari. I didn’t mean to not tell you on purpose. I was afraid that you would be upset if you knew, so that’s why I didn’t explain it to you.
He walked towards Marissa, wanting to hold her hand.
Marissa took a step back, took off the ring in her hand, and threw it onto Chet’s body.
“Chet, you are also a big liar. What’s hateful is that you deceived me for more than twenty years.”
However, the Monroe family did raise me after all, so we are even. From now on, we will just be strangers when we meet again.
After Marissa finished speaking, she took off the veil on her head, opened the doors of the auditorium, and ran out.
Jonathan immediately chased out, and his friends followed after.
With a thud, Chet knelt down on the ground, muttering to himself.
“No, I didn’t mean to hide it from you, I was just scared. To make up for it, for over twenty years, I have been caring about you all the time.”
The whispering in the auditorium suddenly ceased, and there was a dead silence all around.
This genius, who was once famous in the Houston business circle, has now become so miserable.
Today was an important day for him, but Jonathan ruined it.
Since taking over the company, Jonathan has been competing for projects and clients, and now he has even taken away his bride.
Unforgivable!
Chet stood up, snatched the car keys from the wedding party, and ran out of the hall.
The auditorium was in chaos, Keaton and Raelynn looked
embarrassed; they had no way to control how things had escalated to this point.
The Monroe family saw off the guests, while a group of people sat on the side, sighing.
Marissa was still wearing her wedding dress as she walked down the bustling street, crying in a poignant and moving way.
Pedestrians on the street stopped one after another, exclaiming, “Wow, look, that bride is so beautiful!”
“I only saw the Monroe family’s convoy today. Could it be…”
One person interrupted him, “Shh,” he said, “you can’t just say things
randomly, who knows.”
The man nudged the person next to him with his elbow and whispered, “Do you see that group of people following her? Are they the groom and groomsmen? Are they arguing?”
Jonathan caught up with Marissa in three quick steps.
Just as he was about to speak, a Cullinan came speeding by not far
away.
Chet’s fierce gaze pierced through the windshield.
At that moment, all he could see in his eyes was Jonathan’s hand gripping Marissa’s shoulder.
He suddenly stepped on the gas pedal and drove straight towards Jonathan, completely ignoring Marissa on the side.
Jonathan instinctively pushed Marissa aside, and he himself was knocked flying, landing heavily in the flower bed.
Marissa, pale with fear, ran towards Jonathan crying.
As Jonathan soared through the air, scenes of past events played out in his mind one after another.
Wearing a wedding dress, Marissa walked towards him with a smile. He took her hand, put a ring on her finger, and then kissed her…
One year later, Cedars–Sinai Medical Center.
A man who had become a vegetable after a car accident miraculously woke up.
He sat by the hospital bed, looking out the window with a bewildered expression on his face.
With a bang, it caught his attention.
Looking back, a woman stood absentmindedly at the door of the ward.
The fallen basin spilled water all over the floor.
She ran over and hugged the man, and he hugged her back.
