Chapter 19
Antonio did not sleep soundly.
He vaguely dreamt of some past events, that dark and bewildering pain resurfaced once again, but this time, the girl who had always silently accompanied him was no longer by his side.
“Grace…”
He murmured aloud, his brow furrowed, as he was trapped in a nightmare, and his chest heaved violently.
In the dream, he fumbled to get up and searched everywhere for the person who should have been with him, but no matter how he called out, there was only silence and loneliness around.
In intense fear, he suddenly opened his eyes, with beads of sweat covering his forehead.
The curtain had excellent light–blocking ability. At this moment, the room was pitch black. His heart was pounding intensely, and he couldn’t distinguish whether it was reality or a dream.
He sat up, his voice trembling
“Grace?”
The room was silent.
He spoke again.
“Grace!”
Seeing that no one responded, he struggled to get up and stumbled as he
mbled to turn on the light.
The room was instantly filled with light.
He didn’t breathe a sigh of relief until he saw everything in the room clearly.
The palpitations brought by the nightmare gradually faded away, and Antonio rubbed his forehead, realizing that the person he wanted to see was not in the room. He stood there for a moment, feeling a bit stunned.
What about Grace?
His heart, which had just calmed down, started to beat violently again. He gasped for breath and abruptly opened the door.
The villa was unusually quiet, with only a few servants cleaning in the living room.
Seeing Antonio coming out of the room, they greeted him.
“What about Grace?”
He was almost impatient to speak.
“Ms. Parrish? We didn’t see her, shouldn’t she have been taking her lunch break with you in the room?”
Antonio wanted to say something, but the familiar notification sound from his pocket interrupted him.
Ile instinctively opened the message.
In the phone, Sofia’s voice came through, sounding aggrieved
“Antonio, the light in my living room is broken. There is no one at home right now. Can you come over and help me?”
Antonio furrowed his brow, about to refuse, when another voice came through.
“Antonio, I knew you were taking Ms. Parrish to the Kaufman’s villa today. I will be alone tonight, and if there are no lights…”
The remaining words were left unsaid, only a low sobbing sound.
“Give me a call if Grace comes back, I have to go out for a while now.”
After saying this, Antonio went back to his room and changed into a different set of clothes. He picked up the car keys on the table and left the
house.
When he arrived at Sofia’s house, as soon as he pushed open the door, he saw Sofia lying on the sofa in a casual nightgown, with a large expanse of snow–white skin exposed on her chest. Upon hearing the noise, she opened her eyes, appearing dazed as if she had just woken up.
“Antonio, you came.”
Seemingly very happy, she ran up and crashed straight into his arms, her soft chest pressing against him, causing a tingling sensation.
“Why are you wearing so little? What will you do if you catch a cold?”
He habitually embraced the person in his arins, allowing her to bury her whole self in his embrace.
“I was a little scared, if you didn’t come. I would be alone at night..
The voice of grievance came from below, and he almost instantly responded.
“Then you also came back to the Kaufman’s villa with me in the evening.”
Just as the words were spoken, he regretted it. He was about to say
something to make up for it, but the person in his arms had already lifted their head and looked at him with red eyes.
“Is it true? Antonio.”
