Chapter 23
When the plane landed at Melbourne, it was exactly midnight.
The immigration officer looked through the documents and asked some routine questions.
“Ms. Grace, may I ask how long you stayed in Australia?”
“Hello, I received an offer from a company called Melbourne. The work visa and everything have been processed, and I am currently expecting to work here for two years.”
Upon hearing her fluent response, the immigration officer no longer troubled her and stamped her passport for clearance.
After Grace politely thanked, she took her luggage and left the airport.
She held her newly purchased phone and searched for the location of the hotel, then hailed a taxi.
The driver wasn’t a local. She saw her face and immediately started chatting with her.
In a foreign land, Grace felt a strong sense of familiarity when she ran into some fellow countrymen.
As they chatted along the way, the driver sister told her a lot of things to pay attention to in Melbourne, and she wrote them all down

The driver sister helped her to put the luggage into the elevator and then. left
Grace took the room card and opened the door. After seeing the clean and tidy room, her tense spirit relaxed.
She tidied up and went downstairs to have dinner, then came back and freshened up before lying down on the soft, king–sized bed and quickly falling asleep.
A good night’s sleep.
The next afternoon at two o’clock, she woke up groggily.
When Grace saw the completely unfamiliar room, she still felt a bit uncomfortable.
It took her almost five minutes to finally realize that she had left her hometown and arrived in a completely new country.
It was midsummer when Melbourne, the weather was hot.
She pulled out a few skirts and changed into them, then went out for lunch. After that, she took a taxi to the vicinity of the company, ready to go and see the apartment she had booked early in the morning.
The landlord arrived on time and handed over the keys to the apartment to her.
After entering the new house, she looked around and made a note of all the things that needed to be purchased. Then, she hired a cleaner to tidy up the place.
In the evening, she returned to the apartment with her luggage and settled down
In the following days, Grace bought a lot of daily necessities, and the briginally vacant room gradually filled up.
She was packing her things while contacting her roommate who would only come in a few days.
Slowly, she also adapted to the local life.
Because she had excellent cooking skills and there were several schools nearby, and she was still young, she naturally joined the group of international students and played with two girls from the neighborhood.
They took her out for a shopping trip, introducing nearby restaurants to her and showing her around the local attractions.
She worked in the company while playing with them in her spare time, and the days passed by with pleasure.
This morning, there was a noise coming from outside the door.
She rubbed her sleepy eyes and walked out of the bedroom, only to see a shy young sister in her early twenties pushing a suitcase, greeting her.
“Hello, are you Grace? I was Cassie Baird, your roommate.”
Grace suddenly remembered that her roommate had mentioned a few days ago that they were going to Melbourne today.
She hurriedly went up to greet and, in the meantime, helped her new roommate organize her luggage, introducing the layout of the room
One morning, two internet friends who had only chatted online quickly became acquainted and in the afternoon, they made plans to go shopping together.
Cassie was still a student, and in a few days, she would have to go to
school Grace personally cooked a table full of dishes and invited a few friends she had known before to have a meal together.
After spending some time together, everyone’s relationship became noticeably closer.
