Chapter 10
Leah’s POV
As soon as I came back home from Lucas‘ house, I heard Laura’s voice –
“Leah, you need to see this!”
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“That wicked witch has just tweeted! She claimed that you stole her jewelry! That filthy old bitch! I should have broken her legs and stuffed my socks in her mouth yesterday!”
“What?” I jumped off the bed.
Laura’s words came as a shock, jolting me fully awake.
“Look!” Laura pushed her phone to my face. “Hash tag DesertRose! The original post of that old bitch has been retweeted a million times and become the trendiest topic of this morning! Everyone is talking about it!”
I scrolled down a bit and clicked the original post.
There it was. Rosalie’s original post-
“Daughter–in–law took away my 20–million–dollar jewelry #DesertRose after she was divorced by my son yesterday. Anyone who sees her please tell her to return it ASAP.”
Followed by a string of peace & love emojis and a picture of the missing
necklace.

People who retweeted it were all furious with my corrupted moral standards and inferior deeds, commenting on it like –
“Shame on stealing.”
“Call the police. Arrest that bitch.”

These tweets were like punches to my gut, and struggling to process what had just happened.
As the reality of this situation sank in, I felt a knot form in my stomach.
I couldn’t believe such an irresponsible, ungrounded accusation would go viral online. It was a nightmare that came to life.
“I haven’t stolen anything from her. That piece of jewelry was kept in her safe. I didn’t know the combination.” I fell into bed.
“That son of a bitch Lucas must be behind this! He couldn’t get over you. That’s why he fabricated things like this to trash you! We have to retaliate!” Laura said angrily.
I sat there, stunned and speechless, my mind racing with questions and doubts.
Laura tried to comfort me, but it was like I was in a daze, unable to fully comprehend the gravity of this entire thing.
I refused to believe that Lucas was behind this. Even though I didn’t know him that well, he didn’t come across as being a man who was able to do something like this.
But Rosalie’s tweet had been circulating online for the whole night. Lucas must have seen it!
Why didn’t he do anything? Did he really believe that I would do

something so despicable?
Slowly, as the shock subsided, I began to realize the enormity of what lay ahead.
I knew I had to act fast before the entire world believed Rosalie’s slander and called me a thief.
The clock was ticking.
I took up my mobile and tried to dial Lucian’s number, but at the same time, his call came in.
“Lucian, have you seen Rosalie’s tweet? I didn’t…”
“Leah. don’t worry. Let me deal with it.” His voice sounded soothing.
“No, brother. I want to deal with it. Please give me the contact liaison from Anthem & Choir. I need them to prepare an announcement for me.” I replied in a calm voice.
Anthem & Choir was the media corporation that my second brother Lycidas founded after he made it big in the entertainment industry.
I had never thought I would use their service in my life.
“Leah, I really don’t think it’s a good idea for you to get involved in this case.” Lucian’s voice sounded hesitant.
“My ex–mother–in–law is slandering me online and turning me into public enemy number one, Lucian. I can’t help but get involved in this case. I know what I’m going to do,” I said.
Laura rubbed her hands together and said, “I’ll tell you what I am going to do. I’m going to go to that bitch’s house, wrap her in a blanket, and step on her neck until she agrees to apologize to you online and in real life!”
“Is Miss Parrish claiming that she’s going to step on an old woman’s neck?” Lucian’s voice sounded worried.
“She’s not going to do anything like that. Not on my watch.” I reassured my brother.
Lucian sat next to the table, flicked the contact book with his long, slender fingers, took out a name card, and handed it to me.
“This is Gean Lee’s contact number. He works for Lycidas. You can call him and he will help you,” he said.
“Thank you, brother.” I dialed the number straight away.
Gean Lee picked up straight away.
“Miss Lewyn, I was expecting your call. I’m Gean Lee. the contact liaison. of Athem&Choir. I’m at your service.” His voice was professional and calm.
“Great, Gean. I need your help,” I said.
“I saw the Tweets. Miss Lewyn, we’ve already prepared everything to clear your name. The missing necklace Desert Rose was discovered in a casino in Macau this morning. A woman called Clara Farrow was wearing it. She’s Lucas Farrow’s younger sister. And listen to this, Miss Clara was later on caught up by local police for public disturbance. Apparently, she’s a very feisty woman. She tried to run away from the police and fight against them when she was caught. It looked highly distasteful. We’ve got the entire process on the casino’s surveillance. video.”
“Does anyone else know about this?” I asked anxiously.
“Not yet. We made sure this is exclusive.” Gean replied. “We could grill

the Farrows if we release her resisting arrest video on social media.”
”
“OK. Gean. Post her gambling clip online and make sure everyone sees that she’s wearing that stolen necklace. I only want to clear my name, so do post the clip with censorship and discretion. I don’t want to make a scene.” I said. “Also, I need you to go to Macau and take Clara back.”
Gean hesitated for a brief moment and replied, “Yes, of course. Miss Lewyn.”
“Aren’t you going to ask me why I want you to do this?” I asked.
“Miss Lewyn, the trick of working in my line of business is never asking, never complaining. I understand that you’ve got reasons for doing whatever you want to do. It’s totally on a need–to–know basis.” Gean Lee
said.
“Thank you, Gean. Do drop by next time and join me at breakfast,” I said. “I would be delighted to meet a professional like you.”
“The pleasure is mine, Miss Lewyn,” he replied.
