Chapter 11
Leah’s POV
I hung up and saw Lucian sitting on the sofa, chatting with Laura.
Every time I looked at Lucian, I couldn’t help but be struck by his mesmerizing presence. With his long legs stretched out before him and his slender fingers delicately holding onto the paperwork, he exuded an aura of quiet confidence and authority.
As soon as he saw me, the ice in his eyes melted.
“You look sad, Leah. And that’s why I’ve got gifts for you. It’s on the table.” His eyes were filled with admiration. “There are two packages. The black one is for you and the orange one is for Miss Parrish.”
Lucian’s superpower was being freakin‘ rich and he was very good at making a girl’s day.
Laura’s face turned crimson when Lucian mentioned her name.
“Thank you for your gift… But you don’t have to…” Laura stuttered as she opened the box and saw a limited version of the Birkin bag inside.
Known for her silver tongue and quick wits, Laura only stuttered in front of my brother.
It would be so cute if they were together. I had a mysterious smile even thinking about them being together.
My best friend and my brother. Isn’t that adorable?

“I insist, Miss Parrish,” Lucian said in a gentle voice. He had that voice. when he was talking to small cubs. Then, he looked at me and said, “Leah, go ahead. Take a look at your gift.”
I walked toward the table and unwrapped the box only to find a car key and a card inside.
“Brother, are you giving me…” I gasped.
Lucian stroked his long slender fingers through my hair and said in a tender voice. “Yes, I’ve bought you a Lamborghini Huracán and the lake house that you’ve always wanted. Take it as a small gesture from me. I want to congratulate you on a brand new ###Chapter of your life.”
“Thank you, brother!” I hugged him and he lifted me up in the air in one. hand like I was a little girl. “Come on, let’s go for a test drive of your new
car.”
I took out my phone and checked on Twitter.
A video of Clara gambling with the necklace Desert Rose was circulating.
Everyone was castigating Clara stole her mother’s jewelry and they were trolling under Rosalie’s tweet-
“WTF? Your daughter stole your necklace and you blame it on your daughter–in–law?”
“Slander is illegal. Arrest this bitch ASAP!”
I closed the app with satisfaction. But at the same time, I couldn’t help but wonder
What is Lucas doing right now?
Lucas‘ POV
“Mother, what is this?” I smashed my mobile on the table.
“It was your mobile. Now it’s a piece of garbage with a broken screen. And you owe me a new table.” My mother took a glance at the cracks on the tabletop and said.
I could feel the tension rising.
I knew that I had to confront my mother about what she had done online, but I wasn’t able to really get mad at my own mother.
“Mother, we need to talk,” I said. My voice was stern and determined. I had to let my mother understand the impact of her actions. Ever since she posted the Lost&Found tweet online, the stock price of my company took a dive.
By a dive, I mean a suicidal plummet.
“I know. I know.” My mother waved her hands impatiently, looking at herself in a mirror.
The maids were busy preparing her dress for tonight’s Gala Ball.
They were sewing her hem. None of them dared to lift their heads to look up at her.
My mother had always been a tough, stubborn woman. In my memory, she had never ever given in to anyone, not even my father. Born and raised as the daughter of Alpha, she had been used to getting things in her
own way.
“The stuff 1 posted online. Blah, blah, blah. I knew I shouldn’t have done it, but for my justification, I didn’t know what else I could do. My hands were tight when you specifically told me not to call the police. I couldn’t
let that bitch get away with stealing my jewelry. That’s why I had to resort to crowdsourcing it online. It’s a Desert Rose, Luke. She must have already sold it.”
“It’s our family business. The last thing I need is public attention. I’ve already told you, she didn’t steal your jewelry!”
“Then who did?” My mother suddenly turned back and stared at me.
A maid accidentally dropped the pincushion to the floor. The needles fell everywhere.
My mother was pissed. She grabbed the hem of her dress and pushed the girl away, exclaiming, “Be gone! You clumsy imbecile girl! Don’t ever let me see your stupid face again!”
The poor maid covered her head and immediately ran out of the room, weeping silently all the way.
I couldn’t help but imagine if my mother had treated Leah in the same way in the past.
My mother went wild. She kicked a chair and shouted at me, “Luke, I can’t believe that you’re still taking that bitch’s side! Look at this neck. Do you see a necklace on it?! No! My necklace is still missing! If she hadn’t stolen it, who did?!”
“Mother, I’m not taking anyone’s side. Go online and check it out. You’ll see.” I replied, rubbing my forehead.
My mother took up her mobile, scrolled a few times, and immediately looked panicked.
“No way! That’s… That’s Clara! She’s wearing Desert Rose! Where is she? I need to call her right now! This isn’t funny!” My mother’s hand was

trembling, trying to close the window on her screen, but somehow it got
stuck.
On the screen, I saw the blurry video clip of my younger sister Clara sitting in front of a casino game table, shouting at someone on her mobile
Shut the fuck up! I’m not leaving today until I won!”
On her neck, there it was. Desert Rose. My mother’s a missing necklace. The one she accused Leah of stealing from her.
And then, my broken mobile started buzzing.
I saw the caller ID and immediately picked it up.
“Father,” I said in a low voice, walking out of the room.
I could handle one parent at a time. Not two.
“Do you have anything to tell me, Lucas?” Even an ocean and a broken cell phone apart, my father’s voice sounded exasperated.
“Father, I’m with mother. I’m working on it.” I replied briefly.
“The number of our stocks is falling. And board members keep calling me at four o’clock in the morning! Apparently, you’re nothing but a boy who’s trying to do a man’s job.”
“Father, I’m sorry. I will fix this.”
“You’re the Alpha of the White Walkers Pack. You don’t fix things. You prevent it from happening in the first place!” My father raised his voice.
“I understand, Father. I’m so sorry that I’ve screwed up. I swear I will take care of it. All I need is some more time.”
Chapter 11
“Well, you’ve got 12 hours. If I woke up tomorrow morning and the numbers were still falling, I would go back and fix it for you. You’ve heard me?”
Then, he hung up on me.
When I returned to my mother, I saw her weeping like a child in the chair.
She looked so tiny and vulnerable.
I took the seat next to her and waved my hand. All the maids walked out of the room and shut the door.
“Mother,” I took a long breath and said. “I did some investigations among servants about the way you’ve been treating Leah. Apparently, you’ve been verbally and physically abusing her.”
My mother’s face twisted into a scowl.
“Don’t be ridiculous, son. I haven’t done anything wrong. Your ex–wife is nothing but a gold digger. That’s what she deserves and that is why I thought she stole my jewelry in the first place. You know I won’t rest until I get what belongs to me back.”
