Lucas‘ POV
My anger boiled over.
“Mother. Leah didn’t steal your jewelry. It was stolen by Clara! You’ve just seen it on the video.”
My mother’s eyes widened in anger.
“How the hell was I supposed to know? I had no idea! Clara was just a
child…”
My mother had always spoiled my younger sister. I had had enough.
“Mother, you know Clara isn’t a child anymore. She is addicted to gambling. When I cut her off, she came back and took away your jewelry.” I said in a cold voice.
I thought my mother would argue with me again, but she just leaned against my shoulder and wailed.
I sighed and said, “Mother, you need to stop shaming Leah online and treating her like a criminal. You need to make an announcement and clean her name right now.”
My mother’s face contorted with indignance.
“Do you want me to apologize to an omega?!”
I sighed, feeling drained. I knew that my mother’s arrogance had caused irreparable damage to my marriage.

I couldn’t fix the past, but I could make sure that I didn’t repeat the same mistakes.
I took my mother’s hands and said, “Mother, I love you, but you need to stop being so arrogant. You can’t keep blaming others for your own mistakes. And you need to stop interfering in my personal life. I’ll handle my own affairs from now on. Now…”
The door opened, and my Beta Jorah walked into the room and stood next
to the door.
I handed my mother’s mobile to Jorah and said to my mother, “Now, Mother, you will draft an announcement to clear Leah’s name. You don’t have to apologize for what you’ve done, because you haven’t done anything wrong. It was just a misunderstanding. Jorah will stay with you and see to it.”
With those words, I walked out of the room.
“Where are you going?” My mother’s voice was trembling.
I didn’t answer.
I couldn’t tell her that Clara had been arrested for a public disturbance at a casino in Macau. She would have had a heart attack if she knew that her precious daughter was being locked up with hookers and murderers in another country.
Then, my mobile buzzed again. It was my Beta Jorah.
“Alpha, good news!” Jorah’s voice was shivering with excitement. “Miss Clara is safe now! She’s taken out of custody. I have arranged our private jet to take her back to the States.”
“Who got her out?” I asked.

“A PR team hired by a company called Anthem&Choir was sent to Macau earlier this morning. They pulled some strings and got Miss Clara out.”
“Anthem&Choir? Do we do business with them?” I frowned.
“No, Alpha. But I checked it online. Apparently, it was owned by a man called Gean Lee.”
“Listen, Jorah,” I rubbed my forehead. “I don’t like the idea that my sister is hanging out there. Take Clara back to me right now.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Jorah replied.
“And have you found Leah?”
“Not really, Alpha. It’s like she evaporated after that man picked her up… Well, I mean… after the day she left…” Jorah sounded totally disoriented.
My ex–wife ran away with another man right after I rejected her. Now everyone knows about it.
Well, I couldn’t blame Leah for running away and hiding her from me. After all, my mother abused her in real life and later trashed her online.
Does she think that I am the one behind all this? I have to find her and explain it to her.
Or… Does she run away from me because she wants me to get my attention? Does she still have feelings for me?
I walked into the room where she used to stay in our house, which had minimal decoration and furniture but was kept tidy and organized.
I sat on the bed where she used to sleep. Then, I collapsed.
I buried my face in her bed, trying to collect the scent left on the linen.

After she rejected me, I couldn’t trace her sweetness of her anymore, but the linens still kept her smell, which was heart throbbing.
“Alpha, are you OK?” Jorah asked me on the phone.
“Go find her and take her back to me. She wants me to look for her, so I’l give her what she wants.” I mumbled to my phone. My reflection broke into a thousand pieces on the screen.
“Alpha,” Jorah’s voice sounded concerned. “Miss Lewyn is hiding. I believe that means she doesn’t want to be found.”
“Women don’t know what they want. That’s why there are men, Jorah.” I said, feeling exhausted.
“Yes, Alpha.” Jorah replied. “But Alpha, you’ve already rejected her.”
“So what?” I rolled in pain on Leah’s bed, wrapping myself up with her linen. “She’s still my woman.”
There was a long pause. Then, Jorah broke the silence, “Alpha, Doctor Jafar called today. Apparently, Miss Josephine was in critical condition right now.”
“Does she need more blood transfer?” I frowned.
“Not really. Doctor Jafar said she was bedridden and refused to eat. She’s suffering from dehydration. Alpha, I really think it’s better to pay her a visit. You know… to check it out,” Jorah said.
“I’ll send Jorah to check it out later,” I said.
My head was buzzing. I felt that it was going to explode.
“Alpha, please… Josephine is dying. She’s mad because you haven’t visited her these days. Your presence will definitely cheer her up. Alpha,
for the sake of Basil, please…”
“Stop mentioning Basil! Stop using his good name as an excuse to make me do anything!” I couldn’t hold my anger anymore and roared into the phone.
“Yes, Alpha. I will never ever do that again.” Jorah immediately replied.
As I gazed out of the small window in Leah’s bedroom, I felt a deep sense of regret washing over me.
I could still remember that day when I told Leah that I rejected her.
I had expected her to be angry or upset, but instead, she had just looked at me with indifference that cut me to the core.
And now, as I sat alone in her bedroom, rolling in pain on her bed, I realized how foolish I had been to let her go.
I regretted the pain that I had caused her. Her life used to be all about me. I must have hurt her deeply. She must have sobbed every night in this room, crying herself to sleep. When I closed my eyes, the sound of her sobs echoed in my mind. I had been blinded by my own selfishness and anger, by my ignorance and silliness.
I wished that I could go back in time and undo my mistake, but I knew that it was too late for that now.
All I could do was try to make amends, to show her how sorry I was for what I had or hadn’t done.
“Alpha, if I may, I’d like to remind you that you have to show up at the Derby tomorrow. Josephine is asking if she could attend the Derby with you…”
“Jorah, I want Leah back. I don’t care what it takes. I want my woman

back.” I said and hung up the phone.
Leah, what are you doing now? I thought to myself. Come back to me.
