It had been a long time since I’d seen my father.
His temples had suddenly turned gray, and he seemed to have aged ten years overnight.
“Before Mom died, she begged you like this too, didn’t she? Begged you not to be so heartless, begged you not to bring that woman
home.”
My father’s face instantly turned pale.
“But you not only brought her home, you sat by and watched as they bullied me. I should be thankful that Mom left me an inheritance, otherwise, would you have even raised me until I was eighteen?”
My father looked at me, wanting to say something but holding back.
The sound of arguing could still be heard from inside the house. I pushed past my father and walked out.

I went to my mother’s grave and told her about recent events.
I hope she can be a little happier.
Henry’s busy month finally came to an end. He lay on the bed, holding my hand.
“From now on, I won’t be a sickly person anymore. If I keep pretending, I’m afraid my head will be covered in grass.”
He was still bothered by Tina posting the photo of me and Simon online.
Although we had already responded to it, Henry still occasionally grumbled about it.
“I think the best way to prove our relationship now is for you to get pregnant quickly. Then no one will have anything to say in the future.”
“Is everything resolved?”
Henry nodded.
“Simon took the fake inheritance distribution certificate I forged to the shareholders‘ meeting to accuse me. Now I’ve used the new evidence to send him abroad.”
As I stroked Henry’s hair, I looked out the window.
I hope everything is over, and we can be together properly.
That day, I received a text from Henry asking to meet at a restaurant for a date.
Just as I had finished getting ready and walked out of the office, several large men approached me.
“Miss, our boss invites you for tea.”
Before I could react, someone covered my mouth and nose with a cloth. After a strange smell, I lost consciousness.
When I woke up again, I was tied up. The ceiling above me was leaking, dripping onto my forehead.
In front of me was Tina’s distorted face.
“Are you satisfied now? Jack won’t marry me. He says no one in this world loves me except him, but now even he doesn’t love me anymore.”
I wanted to cry but had no tears.
Idiot, wake up!
He’s manipulating you!
Just as I was about to speak, the door opened and Simon slowly walked in.
You actually teamed up with Henry to trick me. I won’t let you off. If the money doesn’t come today, you can wait to be fed to the sharks.”
I frowned at Tina. She clenched her fists and laughed maniacally.
“Wait for Henry to come rescue you. When he does, I’ll split the money with Simon.”

I didn’t say anything more. They locked me in a small room with no light.
Only the faint sound of waves led me to guess I might be by the sea.
Until I was starving, no one came to bring food.
I suspected they wanted to starve me to death.
Inside, I couldn’t sense the passage of time.
Only the water dripping from the ceiling told me ! was on the verge of collapse.
I hadn’t eaten anything.
I could only open my mouth and wait for water drops to fall, barely maintaining my life.
I suspected Henry might not come to save me anymore.
